Recommend me books

I want to get back into reading books again, but don't know where to start. So recommend me anything... As long as it isnt Stephen King (been there, done that) or anything with feminist themes naturally.

Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein", if you don't mind reading something nearly 200 years old. The english in it may turn some people away from it.

If old/modern english doesn't bother you, read some Edgar Allen Poe. Basically anything from him.

If you like The Wizard of Oz, read "Wicked".

If you have even a passing interest in American Football, Friday Night Lights is excellent.

Apparently, The Righteous Men by Sam Bourne is good according to my girlfriend.

If you like futuristic war novels, pick up any of the Gaunt's Ghosts books by Dan Abnett. I'd suggest starting at the start: First and Only.

Abnett = genius.

For some good adventure books, grab anything by Clive Cussler. He's got three separate series out, and they all have their great points. Don't be put off by the fact that his name was attached to the half-baked pile that was "Sahara" the movie.

Check out Jonathan Kellerman's "Alex Deleware" novels. He has an entire series, about 20 books, out about him. It's about a psychiatrist (Deleware) who is best friends with the only OUT gay detective in California (Milo Sturgis) and their solving crimes together. I haven't read one that I have disliked yet.

I'm not the big novel reading type, so I'm not going to recommend that type of stuff. What I will say though, is Planet Simpson is an awesome read, a great study into what has truly made the Simpsons the most unique entity on pop culture in the last twenty years.

Anything by William Gibson, Neuromancer, specifically. 200-some-odd pages of stylish dystopian awesomeness wrapped in sex.

Musashi by Eiji Ezaki. A beatifully written epic samurai novel.

That would suggest that it is, indeed, a great book.

Most things by Murakami are...I got two more for Christmas so shall enjoy reading my way through them...
