Holy fuck I am so slow. I just realised last night that the Ancient spirit bodies in Final Fantasy VII's Temple of the Ancients were just black mages with a beard.

I really enjoyed the demo. I ought to get the base game at some point, but there always seems to be twelve other games ahead of it in the "games sousa wants" queue.

Man, the achievements for FF7 seem really thrown together. It's weird to me that they'd include stuff like "win your 1st battle" but miss out obvious stuff like complete the secret Battle Square fight or complete the bonus Wutaii and Lucracia content. There's tons of potential for fun stupid stuff that old fans will love, too. Like get the high score on the rollercoaster mini-game or win an S-Class Chocobo race.

Just seems like a missed opportunity, especially when the FF8 ones offer up plenty of fun.

I like the achievements they went for, but I agree, there's a lot of side content, and since PC has unlimited achievements it seems like a missed opportunity to add loads of fun ones in. Mog House FTW!

Man, does the controller stuff for FF7 not work so well for any one else on Steam? I'm using a PS3 controller that emulates as a 360 controller. No problems with any other games, but it seems to get all messy with FF7.

The controls are set up weird (I've just ended up getting used to them) but you can set it up how you like if you use the utility before you run the game. It doesn't appear to work through the in game menu though.

Getting the hardedge at Junon with the PC controls is ridiculous and I hate it.

Yeah I totally gave up on that. You can buy it in Gongaga anyway.

Not really much of a difference to your AP gains - all you have is Corel mountains and Gold Saucer desert as battling areas before you can get to Gongaga, and since neither are very good or needed levelling areas, you may as well just get your items and get out of each of them.

Yeah, I doubt I'll do much more grinding until Cid's in the party, everyone's level 30+ now with all limit breaks already so there's not much more to do until Cid's around.

Next decent levelling point is actually just after Gongaga thinking about it - perfect to grind limit upgrades against those angry bird things that I can never remember the name of.

In "huh, didn't see that coming" news, Final Fantasy X actually has fairly doable trophies. Biggest pains would only really be Nemesis, Penance and depending on your opinion on Blitzball, get Wakka's Celestial Weapon.

If you get Wakka all leveled up and ad that wappon the normal final boss will fall in seconds. The Dark Aeons are the only thing i never beat on PS2.

Same, apart from one summer where I was determined to do it and somehow became really good and ran full seasons. Never managed to get the hang of it again, though. Definitely my least favorite Final Fantasy mini game.

In other news, apparently there's not only hope from Toriyama for a FFX-3, but the new 30 minute audio drama thing at the end of the HD remakes basically sets one up for it... in the stupidest way possible:

Basically, from what I understand, Yuna and Tidus break up because Sin comes back (?) and Yuna has to go and kill it again. Because you know, their relationship really got in the way of destroying it the first time...
