Gigs for 2008

Going to Alter Bridge tonight, planning on finding people to go see Amy MacDonald with...

You went to the one at Manchester Academy right? How many old people were there?! The band were immense but those people, most of whom looked like they weren't enjoying themselves, ruined any chances of jumping around/moshing. Thankfully Myles Kennedy encouraged jumping during 'Metalingus' (*ahem* Edge's theme tune) so that made up for it.

I saw Korn the night before at Manchester Apollo. That was beyond mental!

I have booked The Cribs and Lightspeed Champion for this year thus far. I am being taken to see Air Traffic tomorrow night, not my choice but it'll do for a midweek night out. Reading Festival will be booked unless I'm off travelling at that point.

With a lot of favoured bands scheduled to release albums this year I imagine there will be plenty lined up in the coming months.

Foals sold out >_<

Hope they cancel now...

Tickets on ebay, originally £7, this guys touting them off at £20 + £5.80 postage. Wanker.

May give it a while, if they cancel I'll rush and see if I can get tickets next time before they're all sorted out or may see if more tickets come on ebay.

This guys from Buckinghamshire and he's gone and bought 7 tickets to tout for a gig in bloody Carlisle. I hate him already >_<

Hardcore Superstar last night were fucking immense. The new album's shite, but even I was impressed. They played about half of the self-titled album and half of the new album. They played everything I wanted to hear; She's Offbeat, Bag On Your Head, Last Forever, Wild Boys, My Good Reputation, Hateful, and finally We Don't Celebrate Sundays. Only gutted about the fact that they didn't play Standing On The Verge, but I can't have everything. If you guys wanna go see a top notch hard rock band, go check these guys out on their next tour. The crowd was about 70 people (max) big too. Was an amazing atmosphere.

FUCKING YES!!! May 27th, IGNITE and Death Before Dishonor are apparently coming. Fucking sweet.

I can't find anything official on it, as the venues site only has gigs for February up, and Ignite's website doesn't have it on either. :( But it's on Last.fm.

Boo...the DBD myspace doesn't have it either. I think somebody's full of shit. :(

I am literally SOOOO excited for AWS. Second time I've seen them, they were great last time, but I just can't help but feel this time's going to be so much better. I think I'm sacrificing the support acts, but I'm scared incase I miss the start of AWS's set. If it starts at 8, 2 support bands. I'm thinking 8:15/8:20 to get there, and I should still have 10/15 minutes safe. But what if they both only do half an hour, which isn't strange with lesser known punk-rock bands. What do I do? :(

Linkin Park were good last night. So good, I banged my head and nearly lost my shoe during "In The End". LP have a glaring problem with their setlist though, if actually including slow directionless "The Little Things Give You Away" wasn't bad enough, sandwiching it between two other slow songs equalled fifteen minutes of restlessness from the crowd... Especially the moshers who looked like they got lost on their way to a NOFX gig.

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!

AMAZING!

The new A Wilhelm Scream guitarist is awesome (from Alucard, also a killer band), he's having so much fun. In "Me vs. Morrissey......" he started scaling random shit before busting out the solo, was well cool.

More people there than last time. Still a fair less than 200 though, but a better turnout. Also it's a totally different dynamic being in the midst, compared to hanging around like last time.

Jem didn't get there until towards the end of Failsafe's set, which was like half 8...the bitch. Which meant I basically had to drink by myself and socialise with randoms. There was this total numpty, Yorkshire farmboy, arsehole there. He so got/gets bullied at school, and if he doesn't, they should fucking start.

There were also 2 total fucking "BRO'S" there who were pissing everyone off....why the fuck are their BRO's from Sunderland? At the start they were like "I'm going to take him out, and him out". To be fair only one of them turned out to be a cunt. Whenever Nuno would hold the mic into the crowd, he'd keep grabbing it. Fair play to them though. They knew their AWS more than anyone else there. But the fact there's fucking BROS from Sunderland amazes me. They actually weren't that bad when it got started, they just twatted the farm boy (Which was needed, he was a raging knob) and were generally fine. But they were Maccums. :shifty:

Before the encore, "The King Is Dead" they did some pro-Maccum chant or something, which led to some guy behind me trying to get a "KEANO!! HE WANKS HIS DOG!!" chant going, it died. I wasn't in the mood for it. :shifty:

I was killer. They did all the songs I REALLY wanted to hear. Opening with "The Kids Can Eat A Bag Of Dicks"...my heart skipped a beat....then they went BAM! into "Jaws..." it was sex. "LET'S GET THE FUCK-FUCK-FUCK-FUCK FUCK OUT OF HERE!"

Setlist (I'm a bit, you-know, so it may not be totally accurate...possibly stuff in the wrong order/don't think I'm missing stuff though):

The Kids Can Eat A Bag Of Dicks

Jaws 3, People 0

Hike (OLD SCHOOL~!) ->

The Soft Sell (FUCK...I can't remember the order from now on. :shifty:)

We Built This City (On Debts And Booze)

Famous Friends & Fashion Drunks

William Blake Overdrive

Congratulations

Stab, Stab, Stab

I Wipe My Ass With Showbiz ->

5 To 9

Me vs. Morrissey In The Pretentiousness Contest (The Ladder Match)

Killing It

These Dead Streets

Anchor End (The last 3 are in order...I think :shifty:)

The Rip

The Horse

ENCORE: The King Is Dead

I'd have liked "Check Request Denied" from "Career Suicide", but that's the only song I felt dissapointed at not hearing.

All Idols Fall, the opening band were fucking ace. They suffered from nobody being 'interested'. Reminded me stylistically of Rise Against and Ignite. Really good. The singer can be added to the list of "underrapreciated opening band singers, I've shook hands with", alongside the bloke from Hellogoodbye. :shifty: The singer was class, leaping all over the place, jumping the barrier, getting in the face of people just standing about near the front, was quality. Really good. Yet people didn't seem to dig. I'm actually really happy I got to see the support.

Failsafe...besides the bass player looking suspiciously like my friends brother...and me phoning him to tell him...nothing much of note. They're not bad. A bit bland though. Far from bad though. Again, the crowd stood about, but people seemed to at least know them.

Saw Avenged Sevenfold a few days ago in Manchester. Was awesome -_-

Seeing Iron Maiden on the 5th July at Twickenham. Will be awesome.

Also imagine my delight when I learned Avenged Sevenfold would also be supporting Maiden at that very concert. :D

So I guess there's this Rockstar Mayhem Tour that they're doing this summer and Disturbed and Slipknot are already confirmed and while I'm pretty passed them, they're still pretty decent and then with a lineup that supposedly could include Machine Head, Sevendust, Mastodon, DragonForce, Five Finger Death Punch and Walls of Jericho, plus who knows who else, I could definitely see myself going to it.

Thinking there's an outside chance that I may also hit up a bit of Summerfest but we'll see when they release some names for it.
