This discussion about homophobia in football on the Footballers Football Show is going about as well as when I chair meetings at work. Long silences and lots of 'theres no problem's. Martin Allens pretty much suggesting a gay footballer should just not mention it (and that players and fans weren't bothered about Justin Fashanu being gay...), Ugo Ehiogu's trying but has no chance, and Simon Jordan as always is a cunt. Worst episode ever.

And now Allens laughing at the word transgender. Have they genuinely ran out of intelligent football types before Septembers over?

I assume that they've already used Clark Carlisle, so yes.

Anyone watching Footballers Football Show? Mike Rileys trying to toe the line of 'refs don't prejudge based on history, all decisions are made on the incident' and neither Steves Coppell or Harper believe him...

Both Del Piero and Heskey scored as Newcastle Jets beat Sydney FC 3-2. Heskey's was actually a smart finish, but Del Piero's free-kick was different class.

The Senegal v Cote d'Ivoire ACN Qualifier match (2nd leg) was called off after the home fans started rioting. Cote d'Ivoire were already 4-2 up from the first leg, but the Senegal fans started up after Didier Drogba made it 2-0 with about 15 minutes left. Ivorian fans and players were escorted out by police.

My question is...so losing 5-2 on aggregate with 15 minutes left is not riot-worthy, but 6-2 is?

Good to know.

The Cape Verde Islands are on the brink of beating Cameroon 3-1 on aggregate and going through to the 2013 African Cup of Nations at the Indomitable Lions' expense. ..Just think about that. Absolutely amazing.

EDIT: Oof, 2-1 Cameroon now. They still need two more goals as Cape Verde Islands have the away goal. Hope they can cling on.

Also Ethiopia are through to the ACON finals too. So well done them. African football is pretty much absent of Eastern influence these days - so good to see. (They were playing Sudan mind, so it was guaranteed an eastern African team would be there..) :shifty:

That's amazing. Just did a quick google of them and apparently they're nearly in the world's top 50 now and even got a 0-0 draw in a match with Portugal two years ago. Famous children of Cape Verdeans include Patrick Vieira, Nani and Henrik Larsson, who obviously all went on to play for much more established national teams.

Cameroon scored in the last minute but it didn't matter. Cape Verde have won 3-2 on aggregate!

Full time. Cape Verde are into the African Cup of Nations for the first time ever. Population roughly the same of Sheffield, they've beaten Cameroon 3-2 on aggregate having lost 2-1 today away from home. Super stuff.

Going on FIFA rankings (yeah, I know <_< ) they're the better team, it's comparable to Poland or Hungary qualifying instead of Uzbekistan or Estonia.

Ethiopia is incredible though, they're ranked way down in 117th... though Sudan are only 100th themselves.
