1) Was here for eleven years.

2) Was club captain during our first successful period in some 20 years.

3) Didn't then go and spend most of his career at Spurs.

I am in no way surprised that at least one of these things had an impact on the voting.

I didn't realise he spent most of his career at Spurs actually, I thought he was pretty much a bonafide Chelsea legend... Not entirely sure where I got that impression from tbh.
