I'm not sure if it's a rating or something that they should patch, but I feel like the defenders go after balls with a lot more intensity than my offensive guys. My quarterback throws a pass and the safety breaks his neck to bat it down and my receiver just casually runs his route not giving any kind of effort. Also, fullbacks are worthless.

Yea..the Super Backers have been complimented by Super Safetys. Meanwhile, my wideouts won't even stick their hand out for a pass when their running downfield wide open..

Maybe change up the style of offense you play?

So I'm like in year 2017, I've worked my way up to become head coach at Notre Dame, and every year like 15 of the top 20 recruits are either halfbacks or wide receivers. Is everyone else having this issue? I hope they fix that in the patch. There are so many running backs and receivers in the top 100 that even smaller schools are picking them up. Meanwhile, I'm fighting Alabama and Auburn for a three-star (though #2 in the country) center.

I'm doing an NCAA - Madden jump thing somewhere and I've noticed that whenever I create say, a HB that's an 84 overall their sparq score is 105 but if I create a MLB with the same overall rating the sparq score is quite a bit lower. I'm in the middle of a game so I can't check for sure if that's how they rank overall prospects but if it is, that could have something to do with it.

I am playing as Michigan's default offense. What style would you recommend? I feel I need more help than just style. Maybe help learning how to read a defense or something.

Learning to read defenses will help. As for the style, it's all a matter of how you want to run your team.

Do you want to have a passing first squad? Then make sure you have an accurate quarterback and not one that can just run. If you want both, run a spread offense out of the shotgun, which gives your quarterback time to look to his second and third options, and also allows you to run if needed.

What is your offensive line like? Build it to your specifications. If you want to pound the ball with big strong running backs, find big strong linemen. If you want to run a more upbeat offense, find faster, lighter, and more enduranced linemen.

How are your running backs? I usually recruit one power back and one speed back at least once every two years, if not every yyear. This allows you a change of pace. I like to use my power back to pound the ball in between the tackles for three or four plays, then allow my speedy running back to come in and gain big yards on a toss or screen play.

Receivers can be used all sorts of ways. If you like to pass, try three or four receiver sets and look for those in the slot (the ones closest to your quarterback) because they'll likely be covered by slower linebackers and should create seperation. For recruiting, I tend to look for one big guy (6'3" or taller) to jump up over the usually smaller defensive backs and one speed guy to play in the slot to pick up first downs on slant passes. Tight ends should be brought to your team based on your team philosophy. If you're a run first team, you should always have a tightend on the feild, and he should be a run speicialist. If you like to pass, go with a smaller, but faster tight end who can run down field and create match-up problems

It's all about how you want to run your offense and finding the right pieces to your puzzle. Everyone has their own style of offense they choose to run. Experiment for a season or two, while recruiting the best players you can get. Then when you find your sweet spot, the offense that suits you best, recruit to those needs. Until then, try out different teams playbooks, and get to know what plays work best in what situations.

Good luck. (Y)

Thanks I am seeing some improvement as on this game setting up plays is just as important as executing them I've noticed. Running the ball really sets up pass plays nicely against the computer.

That advice is good.

Go to 3 OTs against Miami, then miss on a 2 point conversion, I get the ball back, score a TD and then am not given the option to kick an extra point, miss on the 2PT conversion, go to another OT, miss on another 2pt conversion and then lose. Being an OC blows sometimes, the head coach is clearly a moron.

Playing as the DC at Western Michigan right now. Bringing in a real solid recruiting class and switching them over to a 3-4/5-2 front 7 with zone specialists everywhere else. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem though, when recruiting if you constantly phone a guy for +200 yet he never, ever moves up when sort by interest. It took me a few weeks to catch this and now I have to go after a different player at his position (Kicker).

You have to go for two after the third OT. Or are you saying your head coach went for two every overtime?

I've found, when I was with smaller programs, I only ever gained any ground when I recruited against other schools. Usually all I had going for me were the Academic Prestige, Location, and Early Play Time. But I'd use that against whoever they had ahead of me. Didn't always work, but it helped more than not.
