Assuming it's because Spurs can't buy any new players unless they sell players, so selling all these players should free up funds to bring in some players who will make a real impact on the squad. But they might have to wait until January to do that, it seems.

Exactly. Players like Hutton, Bentley, Jenas, Palacios, Bassong, O'Hara (now at Wolves) are all bench players at best. Last season we had enough players to fill THREE teams. Add to that a few new youngsters who are now moving up. You're always better served to flog these "almost-but-not-quite" players, buy a couple of better players to IMPROVE the squad and to fill up their bench places with the better youngsters (like Townsend or maybe even Harry Kane).

Don't think Gyan has handed anything in. He's question the ambition of the club I think, and he's not the only one, but as far as I know he hasn't submitted a transfer request. That said, if he has or not, I don't think it alters to chances of him going. He was either going anyways or staying. He's got more to give, that's for sure, so if he can put down the Big Macs and go for a run then maybe we'll start to get somewhere perhaps.
