How is create a fighter this time around? Mostly the same, or more options for things like hometowns etc?

Also do they give you options for called fight style this time, or are you still "Mixed Martial Artist" no matter what your skillset?

It has to do simply with being able to get on top of a KO'd opponent as soon as possible and landing the four blows needed. There cannot be a single moment of hesitation as far as I've found - I didn't even know I was doing it the first time, and the only other time that I've manged to land four was last night and I went straight from landing the KO blow to mounting him for the four final shots. So it's mostly luck.

Getting the Finish the Fight acheivement by caving in Kampwho's head is the best.

I got that on day one and was shocked when I saw an friggin' 100 point achievement unlock.

I think I got it because I really wanted to see the over-rated Dane get KTFO so bad. :shifty:

Just won a PRIDE fight, the first time I've KO'd someone with the north/south knee's to the head. God damn, it looked (and I felt) like I killed him. In the heat of the moment, I followed up with 3 or 4 more knee's to the head once he already went out, and they just looked brutally sickening.

EDIT: So after a Knockout of Lyoto Machida at 4:50 of the 2nd round, Nobu 'The Asian Sensation' Yakubitskaya has gone on to win his retirement match. Not the most fitting way for a submission specialist to be remembered in his final match, but ya can't change a flash KO so what's done is done.

I managed to post a great record of 45-3, with my only losses coming from Tito Ortiz twice by TKO early in my UFC career, and my third coming more recently from being on the receiving end of Rampage's fist, where I lost my LHW Title after defending it 7 times. During my career, I put together a stunning 23 fight win streak, and never lost more than once in a row. I also won my one and only PRIDE Gran Prix that I was offered.

My fastest win was a mere :42 seconds into the 1st round, against Wes Turner, where I won by submission. I believe that may have been my WFA title match where I walked in, pulled to guard and got an Omoplata sub victory right off the bat. Fastest loss was to Tito Ortiz, a respectable (:shifty:) TKO loss 2:46 into the 3rd round. I came away with 15 Submission of the Night awards, 6 Submission of the Year awards, 3 Fighter of the Year awards, and also made the UFC HoF.

Came out of the career rated 92 OVR, 91 Submission OFF and DEF, somehow ended up with 100 GTG Offense and 97 GTG Defense without even focusing on that. I also traned my move-levels up pretty well (Put in spoilers for length; Level/Lv 1 = Learned, Lv 3 = Perfected):

Left High Front Kick [Anderson] (Lv 3)

Direct Catch to Armbar from the Bottom [from clinch] (Lv 3)

Strike Catch to Omoplata (Lv 3)

Direct Catch to Kimura from Half Guard (Lv 2)

Submission Switch to Armbar from the Bottom (Lv 2)

Submission Switch to Triangle (Lv 2)

One Step Left Head Kick (Lv 2)

Pull Guard to Open Guard Clinch (Lv 2)

Sweep Transition to Back Side Control [from rubber guard] (Lv 2)

Direct Catch to Gogoplata from the bottom (Lv 2)

Right High Front Kick [Anderson] (Lv 1)

Lyoto's Stepping Straight (Lv 1)

Jumping Left Front Head Kick (Lv 1)

Direct Catch to Gogoplata from the Top [from mount] (Lv 1)

Sweep Transition to Open Guard Clinch [from mounted] (Lv 1)

Direct Catch to Peruvian Neck Tie [from back side control] (Lv 1)

Trip Over Takedown to Half Guard Clinch (Lv 1)

Looking forward to bringing this guy online and twisting people into pretzels. I also look forward to the hate messages I'll be recieving soon due to this.

My guy retired after winning the LHW title in his last fight. Was kinda a cool story, as he was a nearly man for so long, and then finally put a streak together, beating some guys who had beaten him, before taking the title.

Dropped down some divisions to try out being a more submission based guy.

Is it me or is the AI absolute cheat on the ground on Expert/Ultimate difficulty?

I am trying to play a career mode on Expert for the hell of it with my Kickboxing star and even though I have 80 ground grappling offense AND defense. I end up on my back and a 50 ground grappling guy just counters every transition and ends up mounting me where an infinite battle going from mount to back to mount to back to mount to back to mount to back and so on until the other guy manages to rock me and end up just caving my face in because whenever I try to catch the punch I look like a baby flailing my arms around randomly.

I mean mother of god I can beat anyone in a standing battle but really the moment they get me on my back regardless of how good my skills are and how bad their skills are, I am FUCKED~!

It also doesn't help that I am completely inept at countering, blocking or reversing transitions myself.

The only thing that is preventing me from playing and enjoying Expert/Ultimate is the AI's god-mode on the ground.

Edit: Same really with submission offense, regardless of having 30+ submission offense than their defense, they will most likely refuse your sub.

And about the retiring, I really don't get why the game forces you to retire after 48 fights.

I mean the real stars get 10 year older too, but I remember Fight Night 2 allowing you to go on at least till your 50 years old. It would just get a LOT harder once your skills started declinig and instead of trying to improve you end up battling to retain your skills (like real vets do).

That system would work perfectly in an UFC game, when the real stars get too old they can get regenned or something.

In this day and age there is no reason to stick to max 48 fights, this way we can never aspire to get Severn numbers :/

Blocking transitions is definitely key for your ground game. After you get blocking them down, then focus on reversing them. I assume you know how to block them, but if not, it's as easy as holding the right stick straight left or straight right. If you attempt a transition, you can also quickly go back to holding it to the right or left to block them again.

I've found that it's easier to complete transitions right after your opponent attempts one, though it does sometimes get blocked as well. It does feel like a slightly cheap tactic, but it's how the computer treats you so why not ;)

Well I know how to block and reverse transitions.

But for me the problem is that during a fight, I just dont pick up on the signs of the other guy doing submissions. And when I do, it's already too late. Add to that being very impatient when my fighter is on his back I just spam small transitions in the hope to get back standing.

But really, I barely spot any transition attempts. Because they hardly try them unless I try them and then they block/reverse them. Even when they are in closed guard they rather just wail on me than actually get to dominant positions.

The only time they get further is when I start to freak out and try to get them away.

Spamming transitions = loss of stamina/energy = easier to be submitted and harder to defend against them. Even having two transitions blocked by the CPU can put you at a big disadvantage if they slap a submission on and they're decent with subs.

I guess the only tip I can really give is if you're not transitioning, block them. Only let go of the transition block to attempt a transition. Eventually, you'll pick up what movements they do as they start their transition attempt, and you can try working in reversals.

Also, I've found that when making the transition motion with the right stick, if you try doing it slower at times it'll help. You can even start to make the motion, pause halfway for a split-second and then finish the motion, and I find that works good as well.

Of course, if you just repeatedly attempt to transition, they're most likely going to block and/or reverse them, or sub you, so you need to mix it up with blocking transitions and moving around on your back before sneaking in a transition.

Started a career and I'm currently 17-3, waiting to fight Nate Diaz in my welterweight debut. Started the career on advanced. Picked up a four fight win streak so far, which included a come from behind win against Evan Dunham where I escaped EVERY. FUCKING. SUBMISSION. ATTEMPT. EVER (I love this new submission system, won my first fight with a submission -- first time that's ever happened for me in a UFC game). He was rocking me on the feet and I just popped him with a right hand. Simulation mode in career makes everything more interesting.

I love this game. But I didn't learn a load of moves before I chose American Kickboxing Academy as a permanent camp :(

Has anyone else had the introduction audio cut out during their career? I'm in my 7th year as a welterweight now and the last three fights I've had (including a one-off step up to middleweight) Bruce Buffer doesn't say anything. He's there doing the motions, I get the graphics with the fighter info on the screen and both fighters do their pre-fight routines but there's no voices, not even when Goldberg says the fighter names just before the fight starts. Then when it does the commentary is fine but again after the fight, Buffer does the motions but I hear no voice.

So I've been able to play the game now... not very well, only capable in Experienced level...

In Career mode as myself (as a kickboxer who joins ATT), currently 26-2, #3 PFP. My losses were to Cro Cop and Lesnar, but I've already avenged both losses (I CRUSHED Lesnar).

So I get a world heavyweight title match against Big Nog, and decide now is a good time to build up my submission defense.

Match begins. A couple exchanges. Brief scare when he catches a kick and trips me, but nothing comes of it.

Feint by ducking, overhand right, DOWN GOES NOGUEIRA! He's not rocked, but I decided to throw caution into the wind and pounce into his guard, throwing bombs... and I KO him. I get a few more shots in just to confirm Nog's death until Herb Dean finally gets off his ass and calls the fight. New champion, and gain my third KOTY

My new heavyweight fighter, "Merciless" Adolfo Hitchens from Düsseldorf, Germany, has a horrible reputation of getting his arse kicked for three rounds before ending it with a well timed spinning back kick. Four fights in a row have ended that way.
