2012 NFL Season

If the Skins and Cowboys want to push back on this, there isn't much the league has to stand on. There's no written rule against what they did, nor were their written warnings. For the league to have any evidence that what they're saying is true, they'll have to admit to collusion, purposely attempting to limit what the players could make in the uncapped year.

The players association is already fine with it because the money goes back to the players, so I don't see what the Redskina and Cowboys can do about it. They knew it was a risk to do what they did and are paying the consequences.

They can sue the NFL over it. These are billionaires in a multibillion dollar business, they might not be super willing to back down in a fight where the NFL not only has no proof they violated real rules, but has to admit to obvious collusion in any case they make. It's still a business, it still has to follow business laws, and this is some murky, backroom shit. If it was an uncapped year, it was a uncapped year. The league doesn't have a legal leg to stand on, especially when they approved the contracts and for two seasons said nothing.

The only reason the NFLPA isn't saying anything is because players aren't losing any money. If any contracts were voided or money had to be given back, they'd be losing their shit. Instead, they look like idiots for making a huge deal about the NFL violating anti-trust laws and engaging in collusion, then staying silent when obvious evidence of that comes up. Great way to thank the two owners who weren't agreeing to the backroom deal to keep you from making money.

The law is on the side of the Cowboys and Redskins, should they want to persue legal action. It'll be no different than when Al Davis sued the league for violating antitrust laws. The NFL knows this too, which is why they're no longer commenting on the story or responding to the press releases both teams put out.

Free agency is about to begin. Cowboys have cut Terrence Newman, thank god.

In puzzling news, sure to excite Dragsy, the Dolphins have traded Brandon Marshall to the Bears for two 3rd rounders, this year and next. It appears as though the Dolphins have given up on getting Peyton Manning, and thus, ever being relevant or winning again.

I will be gutted if Laurent Robinson leaves Dallas. He's absolutely perfect in his role in Dallas. I have no idea how successful he'll be as a #1 wide receiver, especially on a team that's as offensively challenged as Jacksonville. Won't be surprised if the Jags overpay for him, they certainly have the cap space.

Meanwhile, Dallas has Captain Neckbeard in for a visit. Sigh.

Kyle Orton is off to visit you guys in Dallas!

I hope the Jags pick up Robinson, they need somebody, anybody at WR who isn't a total dud (aside form Mike Thomas, but he's a #3 at best imo.)

Oh and DYSI, not true:

Calvin Watkins reporting that TE Martellus Bennett to visit Giants.

Garcon signing for Washington too, somebody for RG3 to throw to!
