Check the difficulty. There's a bug/glitch that even if you're playing the Starter Cup, which is meant to be Amateur difficulty, the difficulty will be set to your default, which for me is World Class. You can change it in the pre-game options.

That being said, at the minute, I can barely manage professional. :/

No, the AI is fine, I can comfortably play at Professional with no issues.

A Prem team, which to be fair one 6-2 in the game I played after I made that post, and a mixed team that I'm literally only playing because I need them to have the loyalty bonus to get enough chem for the 9N7L challenge, which is surprisingly bad considering none of the players are exactly terrible.

The Coin Boosters have been a big help for me, nearly got two prem teams now but no one massively impressive.

My current problem is spending all my coins on random people for squad builders rather than buying people who can actually help me  I've bought all the coin boosters, I know that helps.

Yeah you can, you could in 16 too. I just buy them all, one runs out, the next one kicks in.

One day I will remember to buy the bigger coin boosts first instead of starting off with 10x250s when I desperately need more.

I started at the top end so I get all the god money first.

Also I've found the answer to my shit form. Danny Welbeck is basically a god on this from what I've seen, the man can do no wrong.

I got one of the One To Watch players too! I now have to hope Sadio Mane is incredible for the rest of the season

I'm having very mixed fortunes in my online matches, I do seem to have penalties sussed though despite the best efforts of the game to troll me by suggesting Simone Zaza should take one. The corner and long free kick system is a big improvement even if I've never scored from a corner.

I'm happy with all the set pieces, penalties took some adjusting but I think I've got it down now.

So, given that I struggled so much with FIFA 16 and never did get the hang of it, I feel compelled to brag about beating West Brom 6-1 on Legendary in my career while the rest of you are having problems >_>

I oddly seem to play better the harder difficulty I play against. 80 rated gold team against professional? Might scrape a 1-0. 64 rated bronze team against the Ones to Watch challenge? lose 1-0 in extra time.

I think it's down to me being far more paitent in the build up play and using less sprint when I'm against harder difficulties.
