The Telegraph are reporting that the list of 76 clubs that UEFA were investigating further with regards to F"F"P has been whittled down to under 20, with Manchester City and PSG amongst those set to fall foul of the rules this season. Although of course, what extent or form of punishment UEFA will actually hand out (if any) is still unclear.

Sepp Blatter will stand for a fifth term as president of world football governing body FIFA in 2015. "I'm a candidate again. My mandate has ended but by mission is not finished," the 78-year-old Blatter told Swiss newspaper Blick. The election will be held in 2015.

Uefa will propose a new rule to the International Football Association Board (IFAB) at the start of next year that would see players temporarily removed from the pitch if a foul they have committed injures another player. Referees' chief Pierluigi Collina says: "The player who causes the injury temporarily leaves the pitch as long as the injured player is being treated off the park." If the injured player is replaced, the player who committed the foul would return to the pitch, the Italian added.

Never going to happen. That rule would be rife for abuse.

So, Liverpool need a goal, and Suarez fouls Busquets (picked him because he's a twat) late in the game. He rolls around a lot and goes off to be treated for 3/4 mins, meaning it leaves Liverpool short of their most important player because someone is faking an injury.

I see why they want to trial it, but it could cause more harm than good.

Here's a random question: Why is it Tahiti and not French Polynesia that represents the islands of French Polynesia in footy? IIRC Tahiti is simply the name of the largest island in the group - not a separate country.

Apologies if this is the wrong thread - wasn't sure where to put it.

It's probably a matter of indiginous identity. The name "French Polynesia" is a bit of an administrative imposition that the locals probably don't have a problem with (I don't know the local politics), but at the same time do not particularly identify with (think if there was a country called "British East Africa" these days).

Tahiti dominates the population of French Polynesia (roughly 180k of its 240k population) and there is historic connections with a former Kingdom of Tahiti to give it a bit more substance, so...good enough, I would guess.

It's not only a mistake, it's fucking impossible. I have no idea how a Winter World Cup would even work logistically. Would they just shut all the major leagues in the world down for 2 months? Seems very silly. Just move it to England, Germany, USA, wherever they have grounds ready.

Trying to watch the majority of games from the UK for an Aussie WC would be a right ballache mind.

Just like watching a WC in Europe would be a ballache for Australians?
