  1. I know we say this every year but we should actually start an online league. Actually, fuck it. I'm just going to try and set one up right now.
  2. This is how I try and build my MLB teams. 5 starters 1 long reliever (a guy who can come in and pitch multiple innings in case the starter gets knocked out early, this can either be a starter or a reliever who has a bit of stamina) 3 middle relievers (I try to have at least one of these guys be a lefty) 2 set up relievers (one typically pitches the 7th, one pitches the 8th) 1 closer Then fill all your positions. If you're in the AL, you'll have a DH and 4 bench spots. If you're in the NL, you'll have 5 bench spots. As an AL team, I try and fill my bench with 1 back-up catcher, 1 extra infielder, 1 extra outfielder, and then a utility guy (someone who can play a bunch of positions).
  3. I bought it. I think so. The engine seems to be a bit better. And it's really nice to have everything licensed.
  4. I like playing the last game of every series. You're either going for the sweep, the win, or trying not to get swept.
  5. I like it so far. It feels a lot smoother. My buddy and I had been playing a Twins/Royals franchise and it was fun to see it moved onto the new game. We'll probably start a new one when Knights minor league rosters are released.
  6. Went and saw Wild last night. Reese Witherspoon is outstanding. The whole movie was great really.
  7. I actually really love that idea. I mean, there's bound to be some people who probably won't be worth returning, but if they can get some earlier Survivors back who haven't played in a while, combined with some of the newer popular ones, it could be a lot of fun.
  8. Marcus Stroman is out for the season with a Torn ACL.
  9. I thought it was a great premiere. There are a ton of interesting characters and it seems like everybody there is to play. It should be great. I thought the twist was a bit silly at first but as the show went on, I did really start to wonder what tribe I would be on. My job is running summer camps. It feels very no-collar, but I also work out of an office most of the year. And as people get older, we try and train them how to be leaders, how to communicate, how to work together. My style of leading and working as a team is exactly how the White Collar discussed things early on. I think I'm white collar and that weirds me out a little bit.
  10. SNL 40 perfectly encapsulated what SNL is. Did it miss a few beats once and a while? Yeah, but what SNL show is perfect these days. There was enough great bits (the musical montage, the When You Break short) combined with an extraordinary cast (to the point where halfway through the show it was impossible to be star struck by anyone). Sure, some stuff fell on its face (Weekend Update & Eddie Murphy), but SNL doesn't hit every mark, every week. The fact that it wasn't perfect was why I thought it was perfect.
  11. Scrubs, Parks & Rec, Community. As much as it fell off a cliff in terms of quality, The Office (US) was the first sitcom I watched religiously every week. It holds a special little place in my heart. I grew up watching Saved By The Bell before school. Boy Meets World was a big part of my childhood.
  12. I should really play this more. If people are playing tonight I may be in.
  13. Michael Saunders is out for the first half of the season. It's not catastrophic, but it's a shitty way to start the season. The outfield might be a bit rough for the Blue Jays in the early going.
  14. Birdman spoilers below: This discussion could probably be moved to the General Movie Thread if it's going to continue.
  15. 1. Birdman 2. The Imitation Game 3. The Grand Budapest Hotel 4. Lego Movie 5. Guardians of the Galaxy 6. Theory of Everything 7. Pride 8. Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 9. 22 Jump Street Will add more as I remember what I watched.
  16. The B in BJ Upton stood for Bossman!? How did I not know that.
  17. Last winter, the top four Padres prospects were Austin Hedges, Matt Wisler, Max Fried and Hunter Renfroe. Of those four, only Fried was traded away. That's pretty impressive for a team that made that many upgrades.
  18. I just found out there's a board game cafe right up the street from me! I'm stoked. Random thought: if there is anybody from Toronto who is down to meet up and play some board games, let me know. I think that'd be fun.
  19. John McDonald is a former Blue Jays player who was known exclusively for his defense. He could never really hit, but he was amazing in the field. His father was dying and his last wish to his son was that he would go out and hit a home run. In his first game back, on Father's Day, John McDonald does just that. Amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEUXF_ooNyE
