  1. So I've been away at camp. When I heard this, it didn't really hit me. At camp we live in our own little world and news doesn't really affect us. But every once in a while, news hits us that shakes camp. Robin Williams hasn't been in much that I've watched lately, but as a kid who grew up in the 90s, Robin Williams was in some of my favourite stuff as a kid. Mrs. Doubtfire, Flubber, Aladdin, Jack. As I got a little older, I began to really appreciate the magnitude of how brilliant Robin Williams was. If you haven't seen it, go check out his Inside the Actor's Studio. He's brilliant. He was one of the greatest talk show guests I've ever seen. His stand-up is brilliant. I've spent countless hours watching him on YouTube. And on top of that, he's a great dramatic actor. Good Will Hunting, Dead Poet's Society. This one really sucks. It's a man who filled my childhood with laughter and someone I grew to appreciate even more as I got older. The world lost one of the best.
  2. Yeah, I think I've only gotten one in-game injury and it was on a slide to second. Had my pitcher get taken out of the game when he got hit in the head by a pitch.
  3. When I was playing a Franchise where I was playing almost every game, I found I had very few injuries. I think my back-up infielder went down for the season and then a pitcher miss about 2-3 weeks. I find injuries are far more common when you sim lots of games. I ended up losing a starting pitcher, my third baseman for the entire season, 2/3 of my outfield and about two injuries that lasted 2-3 weeks.
  4. Think I might re-start as a 2B or a 3B. I normally play as an OF or SP, but I'm a little tired of that. I'd like to play SS, but I normally build my guy as a slugger. Probably best suited for the hot corner.
  5. I've been the Lannisters three times (even though we randomize it every time). I lost the first time because the Tyrells and I agreed not to attack one another. I ended up in a battle with the Baratheons and the Greyjous. I acted pretty much as a blockade and the Tyrells ended up storming Dorne and winning the game. The second time I held basically built up armies until and then made a deal with the Starks to take out the Greyjoys, which I didn't end up keeping. This allowed me to take the Tyrell castles as well as the most poorly defended Baratheon one. Third time I got teamed up on by the Tyrells and the Greyjoys early on and couldn't end up spin much all game. By the time I got myself into a decent position, the Starks had swooped into Tyrell land and won.
  6. I bought my brother the Game of Thrones game. By god is it amazing. We've played three times in two weeks with our friends. Going to run one in the Cube. Two spots left. Go sign up!
  7. Could someone recommend a good podcast. I don't necessarily want a beginners or intro to football one but with that being said, I'm fairly new to European football.
  8. Eugenie Bouchard has made it to the Finals and Raonic has a chance to do so as well. Pretty exciting day for Canadian tennis.
  9. Lots of interesting David Price talk. I'm sure we're (the Jays) are never going to get him and even if we do, we're going to paying some sort of tax for the fact that he'd still be playing in the AL East. Do you think there's a chance the Rays keep him, especially since they have been rather hot lately. Here's a good discussion question: what's the one move you'd like to see your team make before the Trade Deadline?
  10. Edwin Encarnacion is playing left field today. I'm interested to see how this goes.
  11. Lowry headed to the Heat in exchange for Norris Cole. Can someone tell me if Cole's any good or not?
  12. But my name is Grant! More reasons to cheer for them. You've done well so far, Niner.
  13. I just checked him out on YouTube. In addition to being quite dreamy ( ), he also seems pretty awesome. No promises that that's my team, Niner, but it's as good a place to start as any.
  14. Not really, no. In terms of MLS, I'll probably root for Toronto FC, but ideally, I'd like to follow a European league. My strategy was just going to try and find a player I quite like, then cheer for the team they play for.
  15. So I had never really watched football before the World Cup. I randomly decided to watch a couple of the games, the first one being USA/Ghana. I can't stop watching now. I don't really know anybody outside of the big names (Messi, Ronaldo, etc.) but man has it been fun to watch. I don't really have a team I'm rooting for, although I think I could easily be swayed to be a Messi fan and therefore root for Argentina. Otherwise, I'm just hoping for fun, competitive matches where, ideally, the underdog wins. I think this also might mean I'll have to find a team to start following in a league.
  16. Was at the Jays game last night and I'm watching the game on tv right now. I just need to say this... I fucking hate the wave.
  17. That is so shitty. He seemed like such a genuinely nice dude.
  18. What did you have to send to the Padres for Cashner? If I remember correctly, Vernon Wells is in the free agents list. He probably wouldn't cost you much and I'm pretty sure he hits lefties well. Could be a nice platoon partner for Lind.
  19. Holy shit. Been binge watching this season of Louie. Up to Episode 12. My god. This show is amazing.
  20. Follow up to this... would someone be able to mock up a logo for our other fake company... "Gernt's Plumbing Co.", perhaps with a toilet or a plunger in the middle? Maybe two intersecting plungers? Whatever looks good.
  21. So far I've bought WD2, Wolf Among Us, and Crusader Kings. Pretty happy with that haul so far.
  22. Ugh. Playing as the Cubs. It's 2018 and not only did we have our first winning season in forever, we won the division. Swept the Reds. Swept the Braves. World Series time. Beat the Red Sox two straight in Fenway and we take Game 3 in Wrigley. Game 4, up 7-6 in the 9th. Sox score two and win the game. The bats go silent in Game 5 and we get shutout 4-0. The Red Sox break up a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the eighth and win Game 6, 3-2. Man, oh man. I want to win this series so bad. About to play it... EDIT: The drought is over. Cubs win!
