  1. This season has been really bad for me, but this is a reminder that football can be fantastic.
  2. I can think of a fair few of these. Psychonauts was the first that came to mind. It's a wonderfully imaginative game with a great variety of levels, but there are also sections where the loose controls make things horribly frustrating. The last level in particular is one of the most infuriating parts of a game you'll ever play. I'll also give special mention to one of my unpopular favourites, XIII. The AI was not great and there were times when the game was finicky about where you needed to stand to trigger the next part of a level, and the checkpoint system wasn't particularly generous either. Even so, at its best, it was a fun, stylish romp with an interesting story and plenty of no-nonsense gunplay that many subsequent shooters lacked. I'm still sad that they didn't make a sequel.
  3. Out of the frying pan, into the fire.
  4. Anyone watching the World Championship Qualifiers? They're flitting through all the tables on this broadcast and the commentary's not far away from the Mitchell and Webb sketches at times.
  5. No sympathy here for Scholes. I'm quite sick of hearing all about the Class of '92 now. He's never struck me as a particular nice person either.
  6. I think I'm right in saying that it's the Touch version you can also get on PC, which cuts out things like media interaction and team talks. At its core, it's not far away from being the same game as the "full" version.
  7. So, the first details about the PS5 have been revealed by Mark Cerny in an inverview with Wired. It'll have an SSD, will support ray tracing and, perhaps more importantly, will be backwards compatible with PS4 games and the current PSVR headsets.
  8. I had a lot of fun with City, but Asylum is still my favourite. The pressure cooker environment of the asylum was something very special that the sequel couldn't quite replicate. However, I do think that City used its array of villains well, whereas Knight seemed to cram them all in just for the sake of having them. Even then, Knight had its moments.
  9. I think it's the sort of thing that's tense when you first play it, but it loses its lustre once you know exactly what you need to do. Most of the game still holds up fantastically almost ten years on, though.
  10. Then I'll be staying well away from the internet for the next few hours.
  11. I'm looking forward to the first episode more than any other. The thought of all those characters coming together and interacting seems appealing.
  12. That tweet doesn't even need hindsight to be ridiculously hypocritical.
  13. Nobody's shocked that he did this. They're just shocked that he's still somehow involved in football after everything he's done.
  14. This puts things into perspective a little. Following Notts County is depressing, but at least Neal Ardley isn't a violent hoodlum.
  15. That's right, and then she was made to sod off so that they could focus on dragons and ice zombies. Those direwolves really should unionise.
  16. I never understood why the media (especially the BBC) was so keen on getting Joey Barton's opinion on everything towards the end of his playing career. He's always been a nasty thug and he only really had one good season in the Premier League. If he doesn't get sacked for this, any faith I had in league football will be gone.
  17. Ghost is tucked away in a safe place where the CGI budget can't find him.
  18. I played the demo version they had for a limited time. I didn't really get the huge appeal, to be honest. It's Tetris, which is never a bad thing, but all the people comparing it to a spiritual journey must be seeing something I can't.
  19. I went to see Sheffield Wednesday play Liverpool at Hillsborough when I was about nine because my local sports centre was organising a nicely discounted trip for young people. Pretty much my entire experience was spent in the shadows of adults who were standing during the game. I barely even got a glimpse of the pitch for the whole match and had to stare at the scoreboard to have any idea what was going on.
