  1. I played it on PC and thought it was fine, as long as you use an Xbox controller. I'm guessing you don't have one if you're also looking for a 360.
  2. Days Gone isn't doing much to appeal to me right now. I suppose another post-apocalyptic open world game involving scavenging for materials to craft weapons and fighting what are clearly zombies but called something else doesn't have the same novelty as it once might. As always, I'd be happy to be pleasantly surprised.
  3. He's had Anuff. Now bring on the monkey with the drum kit.
  4. How much gold do you get for £50 a year?
  5. Which expansion packs are worth the on-sale prices?
  6. I really hope the episodes themselves don't leak early. Last time round, a number of sites decided it was appropriate to post the news of Beyond The Wall's leak alongside a screenshot of Viserion being reanimated.
  7. Thank you, Stevenage. Sadly, though, it's the hope that kills you.
  8. How's this year's RTTS? It's the mode I play the most, but I'm still on The Show 16.
  9. I've never quite been as keen on Hardhome as everyone else seems to be. There's a lot to like, certainly, but I wouldn't put it in my personal top ten. Beyond The Wall, on the other hand, is easily my least favourite episode, and really the only one I can say I genuinely dislike. It dumped plot logic in favour of spectacle, and the result was a series of CGI-loaded action scenes that existed purely for their own sake. People give D&D a lot of flak, and I think some of it's justified. From Series 5 onwards, they seem to know what they want to happen, but they've not been very good at writing a plot that smoothly transitions to those payoffs, like the death and resurrection of Viserion, Littlefinger's death, Ramsay's defeat and the Dornish coup. It's a bit like the whole "Wrestlemania moments" focus WWE has sometimes, through which they want to create major moments without always thinking about how they'll make them meaningful and impactful by building up to them effectively. It's what makes me worry about Series 8. With that said, I do think D&D are good at writing dialogue. Plenty of scenes that are exclusive to the show, like those between Tywin and Arya, Littlefinger and Varys and pretty much everything involving Olenna, are entertaining and can be watched time and time again. When characters are, to use the story's vernacular, "playing the game", I'm at my most interested.
  10. Conan Exiles and The Surge will be April's Playstation Plus games. Try to contain your excitement.
  11. I doubt it would happen because most Game of Thrones fans like the story's large scale, but I'd be very interested in a miniseries focusing on a small cast of characters within a short space of time. The Defiance of Duskendale would be the first thing that comes to mind. You'd have Aerys slowly descending into irreversible madness in his cell, along with Lord Darklyn moving gradually from grand self-confidence to increasing doubt as Tywin's forces approach. Then you could also explore Tywin's psychology in more detail as he's torn between defending his king, a man he's grown to despise, but with whom loyalty still needs to be maintained, and letting him die so that Rhaegar can take the crown. Of course, then you could look at Rhaegar's ongoing reaction to the whole situation and how this shapes his character. I realise that we already know the main beats of this storyline, but the parts in between could be really engrossing. You'd only need a miniseries, as I've said, but it would be a slow burn so as to really maximise the level of character development.
  12. Even if you're not planning on buying it, it's hard not to appreciate the significance of its Switch release. After 22 years, and following the saga of its development from SNES to Playstation, Final Fantasy VII is at last on a Nintendo console.
  13. Given that many story threads in the book have gone in different directions to those in the show, I don't think watching the final series will harm my enjoyment of the final books, should they ever materialise. Perhaps we'll know the way the story ends, but the steps it takes to get there should be different enough to make the books appealing. I think the most frustrating thing about George RR Martin's slow writing pace is that I didn't find the last couple of books all that exciting, but they ended in such intriguing ways that they left the biggest hooks between the novels yet. Some of the as-yet untied plot points involve characters that aren't even in the show, so we've still got years of fan theories to come.
  14. Listening to the crowd, it sounds as though there are more women and children in attendance than usual. There's considerably less of the normal EDL army vibe tonight.
  15. Holy balls. The rumours were true. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is real and it's coming in 2020 to PC and consoles.
  16. I've never really "got" Foo Fighters. It's not a style of rock I'm a fan of anyway, but they don't seem very different from several other bands who get bombarded with criticism while Foo Fighters get similar amounts of adulation.
  17. I've always enjoyed playing as 1B in RTTS. You're usually in the thick of the action without being completely overwhelmed. I played as a RF for a while and the fielding was just dull.
  18. I really don't know why anyone would intentionally look at spoilers of entire episodes if they're intending to actually watch them. Coming up with theories without knowing for certain if they're accurate is a massive part of the fun in this story.
  19. I've always liked the idea on paper, but the practical reality is that it isn't feasible for me.
  20. Final Fantasy X/X-2 and Final Fantasy XII are available for pre-order. They're £44.99 each. In better news, there's another Direct focusing on indies tomorrow.
