  1. Glad to see Osaka get a win that didn't come under unpleasant circumstances. Good on Kvitova, though, for coming back after being stabbed.
  2. I forgot all about Wargroove. I'll be very interested to see what people think of it.
  3. Kingdom Hearts 3 reviews are coming in. Predictably, there's a lot of talk about how labyrinthine the plot is, but something that sticks out to me is that the combat is apparently a lot of fun. I only played the first game and felt that fighting was clunky and often irritating, so it's good to see that they made things better.
  4. I think I'll take a break from GLOW. Maybe I'll come back to it later. If it really isn't for me, you know what? That's fine. You win some and lose some. I'll just move on and live and let live.
  5. Resident Evil 4 and 5 didn't have zombies either.
  6. I watched the first six episodes of GLOW over the last week or so. Honestly, and I hate to say this, I'm not feeling it. There have been one or two scenes of drama I was somewhat engaged with, but on the whole, the characters aren't doing anything for me. I don't feel as though their arcs are going anywhere significant, and I'm not finding the dialogue to be particularly impactful. Now, I understand that I might be barking up the wrong tree by looking for meaningful drama, but that's not the only problem. I haven't laughed once yet, and as a piece of comedy, that's not a good sign. It feels like the kind of humour you'd see in a Richard Curtis film, only a bit raunchier. It just isn't landing for me on any level. I really want to like this show. I'm a wrestling fan and I know how popular it is with people on this board. I'm simply not sure what I'm missing. Does it get better or am I going to just have to accept that it isn't for me?
  7. I think it's a bit of a tease. You can download the Hitman levels to play in Hitman 2, but only if you have Hitman installed as well.
  8. The FIFA games tend to cling to old consoles for a long time. 14 was the one that came out on virtually every system from PS2 onwards, after which PS2 support was dropped. They still come out on PS3 and Xbox 360 now, though. Looking back at FIFA's history, what stands out is FIFA 95. That was a Mega Drive exclusive for some reason, whereas all the others were on more or less any contemporary system you could wish for.
  9. I'm not sure why, but I had it in my head that Aldershot was in Derbyshire. I've never been there, clearly. There'll have to be a lot of rebuilding to get promoted within the next few years. I can't see many of the current crop deserving to be kept on after his season, and the few that deserve to remain in the division, such as Enzio Boldewijn and Lewis Alessandra, will surely be picked up by better teams. Hopefully, if Ardley stays, he will recruit the right sort of players and, to be fair, the three signings (two of which are on loan) he's picked up in this transfer window have been reasonably good so far. Predictably, it's been difficult to convince skilled and determined players to come to a side rooted at the bottom of the league, so I won't hold my breath on much more.
  10. I hope you're right. Those clubs have recovered well, and you could add possibly add Exeter and Mansfield to the list by the end of this season. My hope is that Notts follow in their footsteps, and not those of Boston, Scarborough, York, Torquay, Stockport, Chester and Hereford. I think what's particularly sad is that Notts have several local/local-ish derbies at the moment, all of which bring big crowds to Meadow Lane. You've got Mansfield, Lincoln and Grimsby, with Cambridge not so far away either. In the National League, the only nearby teams are Chesterfield and Aldershot, and they're both in big danger of being relegated anyway.
  11. I've found that watching new television series is something I struggle to motivate myself to do. Starting out seems like a daunting prospect because I know I'll have to get to grips with who the characters are and why they're important, and it's especially off-putting when the pilot episode lasts an hour or more. I'm sure that there's plenty of stuff out there I'd like, but I always end up retreating back to what's familiar and easy to watch. That goes for every other form of entertainment too. It's something I really should break out of.
  12. Who knows? The players at the moment just aren't good enough, and I don't think there's anyone who can get much more out of them right now. When I saw them last week, they had most of the possession, but they couldn't do anything with it, and it looks as though the same thing happened today. Kevin Nolan was a decent motivator and seemed to have a good rapport with the players, but he did a poor job of squad building over the summer and, by all accounts, never got the players' fitness levels up sufficiently during pre-season. Harry Kewell managed to string some results together to begin with, but his volatile nature soon made things turn sour, which I could have predicted before he was appointed. Really, I think Notts flattered to deceive last year and were particularly helped by having some loan signings from Forest. Jorge Grant and Ryan Yates were very good League Two players who gave the team a competitive midfield, which was never more apparent than when Yates' loan finished last January and the club slipped down the league. From what I've read, that link-up between the two clubs isn't there now, with Mansfield getting Forest's promising youngsters on loan instead. They're competing for promotion this season. I know it's only sport and it's trivial compared to the big issues facing the world, but it's still unpleasant for me. I'm not at my best personally at the moment anyway, and it would be nice if my club could give me something to cheer about, but it's not happening and isn't likely to. It's the oldest league club in the world and a club that my grandfather started following before the First World War, and now it's at its lowest point ever. It's depressing.
  13. I ought to start making myself comfortable in the Vanarama thread.
  14. I think it's commonly used to play pirated or modded versions of games.
  15. Looks like Martin O'Neill is returning to Nottingham Forest to take the manager's job. As much as I'd like him to do well, I just don't see it happening.
  16. Absolutely fantastic effort there. For someone who's struggling to put on his socks, who's had next to no match experience over the last year and who's facing one of the in-form players on the tour, to bring it to five sets was nothing short of amazing.
  17. I got Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction about eight years ago for £2.99 on a misprice and still haven't opened it. I hadn't played the old Ratchet games and was going to play through all of them first, but I only ended up finishing the first one. Maybe I'll get to it one day.

I don't think I'd be interested in any "Let's Plays" or live streams unless there was a strong element of interactivity, like you get with the Jackbox games.
  19. The Australian Open next week should be interesting. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing how Cameron Norrie gets on, having reached a final earlier today. If he reaches the third round, he'll probably face Roger Federer.
  20. Karanka's been treated badly by the board. He's been doing a good job and has Forest close to the playoffs, which can't be bad when you consider the fact that they've been at the lower end of the league for the last few seasons. The club has spent a lot of money and obviously wants promotion as soon as possible, but getting rid of a decent manager halfway through the season doesn't seem like a great way to achieve that.
