Yeah, Embracer bought a number of studios from Square Enix including Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montréal and Square Enix Montréal. And straight up just bought some IPs from Square, too. The Marvel license transferred over to Embracer when they bought CD, so I don’t think it’s because of the sale or anything. It’s probably Embracer realizing that keeping support going for a game that’s been dead for two years now is really dumb, and they need all hands on deck for Tomb Raider and Perfect Dark for Microsoft.

I thought they’d at least finish the storyline they started, but, nope - Marvel’s Avengers is getting the plug pulled in September. Last patch is due out at the end of March, and all emotes, takedowns and outfits will be free. After September, they’re also pulling the game from digital storefronts (but the game itself will continue to be accessible if you own it already, or buy a physical copy for some reason). Until they also pull the plug on the servers, anyway. Crystal Dynamics and SquareEnix fucked this up ROYALLY. This should have been a license to print money, and it was a shitshow from launch day.

I agree and I don't agree with what @Hellraiser said. On the one hand, yeah the story is pretty much the same and you'd be able to find the PS4 remaster for cheaper right now. But on the other hand, if you get or have a PS5, why not utilize that tech and play something that's specifically made for it while at the same time changing nothing about the original story? Plus, while it's the same engine Naughty Dog has used since the PS3 days, they damn near perfected it with Part 2 and this remake uses that improved version of that engine.

I believe someone like Druckmann or something said that the best way to look at this show is an adaptation, yes, but also it's own thing as well. It's not a 1:1 recreation of the video games. There are going to be deviations from the original games (and stuff added in that they wanted to do in the games, like more lore and whatnot). Maybe, but there's also little to no chance that Sony just willingly lets one of their biggest franchises get told exclusively on television instead of selling Part 3 for $70 a pop. Also about the new IP thing: their next game is going to be the Factions multiplayer game, so... yeah.

I installed Decky Loader on my SteamDeck and now I have the UI looking like a Persona 5 game and my boot-up animation is Akira themed. I have all my Steam and non-Steam games with fancy custom artwork now, too. Man I love this thing so much. I struggled with if I wanted the UI to look like Persona 5 or a Pip-Boy from Fallout, but went with the P5 style because it just looks cool as fuck.

I think the 30% figure in that article is saying that 30% of digital sales came from mobile apps that sell digital games (IE the Steam app, or Playstation's app). But I could be wrong, because I was confused about that when I read it last night.

I guess this goes here since it seems we aren't splitting the Marvel stuff from everything else this year? My prediction: Hank & Janet die somehow, Scott & Hope are left trapped in the quantum realm, Cassie makes it out (and not in this movie, but she's a big reason the Young Avengers are put together since the Avengers as we know it don't exist - yet). I also bet this is the first movie to have an incursion (his original reality, and some other Earth), because Kang will win in this movie and THIS is the Kang that'll be the main villain.

The 90% number is probably heavily skewed towards the PC gaming community, no? Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the numbers still lean in favor of digital for consoles too - especially with both major consoles having digital only options and they're cheaper - but I'm still curious as to just how much. When I had a Switch three years ago, I also bought digital, but FAR less since Nintendo's sales are routinely garbage and their first party stuff also never goes on deep discount, unlike Sony and Microsoft. The legendary edition is only like $10 more and you get the game, season pass and premium skins or something. I don’t know if you already bought the game, though. Well, it’s $60 on PlayStation anyway. Not sure if it’s on sale for Xbox right now.

I'd say stick with it. The first one is easily the "worst". They improve basically everything with the sequel, and it's really polished by the time you get to the third.

Right after you posted that, it came out that High On Life is the most popular game on Game Pass (right now). The top 5 is High On Life, Minecraft (!), Forza Horizon 5, FIFA 22 and Rainbow Six Siege.

Throw that one onto the pile of Spidey characters that are getting movies that will bomb at the box office. I'm sure any day now, Sony will come across an idea that will actually generate them money like what Spider-Man and Venom did/does. But having Bad Bunny play a character that has only appeared once in the comics, or Donald Glover be a villain no one knows about, or the lesser of the Maximoff Twins from the MCU play an iconic Spidey villain, or... well, you get the idea. None of that is going to work. -- In unrelated news, I watched Black Adam last night since it's on HBO Max now. It's... not that bad? Nothing very special, and I liked it way more than I thought I would especially considering it's a DC movie. But the villain at the end of the movie was very meh, and didn't look good. I much preferred the plot when it was the JSA vs Black Adam. Hawkman is corny, and was also lame as fuck in the CW universe. But I think that was intentional this time around, at least it seemed that way. Aldis Hodge deserved a better role than that. Cyclone and Atom Smasher were afterthoughts, though I did like Atom Smasher's clueless dumb lines - very much Scott Lang in Ant-Man 1 vibes. Clearly the standout of that movie was Dr. Fate. Give me more Dr. Fate. Much like what Titans did for me with Rachel Roth, I'm now pretty interested in this character and want to read comics with them in it (preferably solo).

I've never seen Rick & Morty, won't start because of High On Life, but I really enjoy the game. I legit lol'd at the sewer kid bit. I mean, the game is nothing groundbreaking, it's a pretty basic FPS. It's bright and colorful, funny, and pretty straightforward gameplay. And it's "free" if you have Game Pass. Fuck it, easy decision. And you can also watch Tammy & the T-Rex in full in-game, so that's another awesome part.

I’m gonna be so pissed if Ant-Man bites the bullet in this one. But it would give some weight to just how much of a danger Kang is and will be.
