As a huge fan of the Manic Street Preachers, im a little agitated that they have been placed so low.

Particularly Fallout Boy, who probably rank up there in my "Worst Bands Of All Time" list got placed so much higher.

What we're forgetting (despite the fact that it's been posted in this thread twenty times) is that this is, in the end, a popularity contest. Fall Out Boy have become popular this year and thusly people think of them before more prolific groups who haven't done as much in recent memory. Whilst I don't think they should be here, this is NOT an all time list and it has never been advertised as such.

To all of the people up in arms about the list (I guess I was guilty of this earlier), why? It's not called "The Best Bands of All Time" or even "The Best Bands of 2005", it's just "The EWB Band 100". If anything, the list serves its namesake properly by giving an idea of what people here were listening to in the past year. I suppose there's nothing wrong with lamenting people's taste, but the Jook hate seems a bit farfetched, as he pretty much delivered what the list promised.

I've been waiting for somebody to say this, this is a "Top 100 Listened To Bands" that are people's favorites. In the grand scheme of things, I would never vote Fall Out Boy onto the list of top 100s of all time. But on my list that corresponds with this one, they're number one right now.

A board I used to post at done this with wrestlers.

They got 32 nominations for wrestlers (or in this case, bands) and done a poll with "Wrestler A" vs "Wrestler B" for all 32. Then they just worked in a normal tournament. I wouldn't imagine it would be that overly difficult done that way

IMO, if you're just doing a starter- why not have the top 32 bands on this one make up the slots?
