The trip/knockdown on Martinez really seemed to throw the cold water on him because he came alive in the last three or four rounds and beat Macklin up badly. Close fight prior to, but Sergio came alive late and showed he was of another class.

Martinez' promoter has said they want Mayweather next at 150 lbs and will give Floyd 80% of the cut. There's potential there for a great fight with two of the top three or four pound-for-pound squaring off. Hopefully the match gets made.

Haye vs. Chisora is set to be confirmed. Supposedly taking place at Upton Park too.

As if heavyweight boxing wasn't enough of a joke, these two are willing to fight in an unlicensed match. Ridiculous.

And Mayweather will beat Cotto on points. Cotto's best chance is to get Mayweather up on the ropes and unload in the early rounds, but I don't think he'll be able to stop Mayweather and Floyd will come more into as the match wears on.

Pretty much a spot-on prediction.

I thought it was a super competitive fight where both guys came away looking very good. Cotto was in great form but didn't have enough to get to Mayweather, who was really doing tremendous work defending and counter-punching like always. He's become more aggressive and more willing to hit as well, and was scoring with the uppercut all night. Even when Cotto bulled him into the corners or against the ropes, Mayweather was able to roll away from and neutralize the left hooks.

Canelo looked like an absolute animal on the undercard. Mosley brought what he had but mostly got beat up - it was looking in the fifth and sixth like there was no way they would go the distance.

And it has now been confirmed for Upton Park thanks to European Union trade laws and thanks to the Luxembourg Boxing Federation licensing both fighters. Boxing taking advantage of loopholes once again! Press conference was at Upton Park with a pretty funny image of there being a metal fence in between the Haye camp and the Chisora camp.

Also the Khan/Peterson rematch is in doubt due to Peterson failing a drugs test

The British Boxing Board of Control has predictably reacted with rage to yesterday’s announcement by BoxNation promoter Frank Warren of the upcoming heavyweight scrap between David Haye and Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora, to be held July 14 in London.

The promotion is titled “Licensed to Thrill,” which cheekily rubs the BBBoC’s nose in the fact that Warren was able to circumvent their ban of his fighter (Chisora) by obtaining boxing licenses for he and the currently unlicensed David Haye from the Luxembourg boxing board via European free trade laws.

The BBBoC, however, was not amused.

“Those behind this proposal are not concerned with the interests of the sport of boxing,” the organization said in a statement today.

“Anyone who participates will be deemed to have terminated their membership.”

“Any member who participates in such a promotion would bring the sport of boxing into disrepute and would wholly undermine the authority of the British Boxing Board of Control.

“For the avoidance of doubt, any member of the British Boxing Board of Control who participates in any way in such a promotion will be deemed to have terminated his/her membership of the British Boxing Board of Control and his/her licence therewith, for the reasons stated above.

“[The BBBoC] does not approve of such a promotion taking place within its jurisdiction and will not supply any of its officials to officiate at such a promotion.”

Surely Frank Warren and German co-promoter Sauerland Event anticipated this kind of reaction, as the BBBoC’s existence is indeed threatened and undermined by the Haye-Chisora fight. Yet it is hard to feel much sympathy for the BBBoC, given their clumsy treatment of Chisora (a vague, open-ended de-licensing) and their ineffectiveness in dealing with serious infractions in the past.

The ball is now is Warren’s court, but given the public interest already drummed up for Haye vs Chisora and the potential profit involved for all parties, backing down doesn’t seem to be a likely option.
