Really? I've been either driving the length of the country or watching the F1 all day. Not sure what to make of Moyes to Everton - will having a transfer budget take to the next level? Might make me like Villa a little more, I do like Moyesie.

Moyes to Everton, I don't know how I feel about that one. :shifty:

I dunno, I reckon if he stayed there for a few years he could make them a consistent top 8 side... Maybe even steal a top 4 spot one season.

You realize I was taking the piss out of Lineker's mistake right? :shifty:

Yeah, hence me summarising Moyes' Everton career :shifty:

Scholesy also considered Oldham too;

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has stated that he considered prolonging his career in football with a move to Oldham before he retired.

Scholes is a lifelong fan of the League One side and attends their games at Boundary Park but has now accepted a coaching role at Old Trafford.

Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester, the 36-year-old said: "If Oldham would have been a possibility and I still felt great physically then I probably would have played on."

However, Scholes stood by his decision to hang up his boots, saying: "The decision I made to retire was just the way I was feeling."

Have to say a big thanks to the Villa fans on Sky Sports, you're making Newcastles usual 'outrage' crowd look like positively useful members of society. Especially the 'Villa are more important to me than stewarding' bloke who clearly just misses the sight of his giro.

A friend of mine on facebook is a Villa fan and the whole thing smacks of over the top reactions. A lot of Villa fans are reasonable, willing to give McLeish a chance even if they are sceptical at first. He's a Scottish manager who has spent a few years at their rivals, but he's not a dyed-in-the-wool Birmingham lad.

These lads who are saying if McLeish joins they'll no longer support the club, and if McLeish comes in then Lerner needs to walk and the like, a lot of them just seem to be coming at it from the angle that this is the biggest rivalry in football history and crossing the divide is inconceivable.

McLeish won a Carling Cup, sure he took Birmingham down, but I don't think there's a lot of doubt that he's a talented manager. Villa have got to be prudent, like any club in the league does (or most at least) and can't be irresponsible with their money. McLeish would probably be a pretty solid appointment, he's got experience, actually won a trophy (however 'Mickey Mouse' it is to some, it's a trophy more than many managers will win) and used to working under cosntraints.

Unfortunately for Villa it's the media's job to find the loonies who want to be controversial and extreme in their views. Much like my friend who is, at the end of the day, a 30 year old Sports Direct employee who seems to think he has a better idea on how to spend money than Randy Lerner.

All this posturing will quickly evaporate should McLeish join and get off to a good start. It's the same as the moronic Sunderland fans who can't get passed the fact Bruce is a Mag, and every team has them. I find it sad that the average IQ of an average football fan seems to be dwindingly even further south though, and who ever thought EWB would be home to sound-reasoning when it came to football. Baffling really.

Well obviously. Surely they're angry because they don't think he'll do well - if he does well then they no longer have a reason to be angry :/

They're angry because he's Brum, though, or at least the ones I know are. Nothing to do with how well they think he'll do, they just don't want him because he's coming from their rivals. Hence the rest of my post.

The "idiots" wont shut up about him being a "blue". Yaaaawn. I don't care. Who gives a fuck about that? Really? He isn't Birmingham City c Born & Bred. I love that it pisses them off, honestly.

Seeing as they had dinner together (Lerner, Faulkner, McLeish & his wife) it's pretty nailed on.

I, personally, welcome him. McLeish has the biggest balls in the league.

Mainly idiots protesting, spouting anti-Blues bullshit. Fucking animals climbing the fences and whatever.

"Villa til I die" is seemingly "Villa til I feel like it". Well done to the former-Steward and the guy who said he'll burn all his stuff deserves loads of shit from his mates when he's wearing his Villa shirt next season.

There are plenty of moronic Geordie fans who can't get past this as well.

I personally HATE the whole concept of wanting a rival team to crumble and do shit. I'm proud of the fact I'm from the North East and I want to see EVERY team succeed and represent our region proudly. I'd much rather see Sunderland and Newcastle battling it out in the top half of the table/for European places than the Mackems get relegated and miss out on the fun of derby days and general banter. And the 5-1 drubbings. :pervert: Now, saying all this, I live in Reading now, so what the fuck do I know about local pride?

I don't want to see Bristol City succeed over Bristol Rovers, but if City did well and got into the Premiership then I wouldn't begrudge them that success. It would be good for the city.

Besides, if a team like AC Milan and Inter can share a stadium, isn't the whole "blood rivals" thing a tad over-zealous?

A campaign has kicked off at Westminster to make Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson a Lord.

Two Labour MPs from Manchester - Graham Stringer and Tony Lloyd - have tabled a Commons motion calling for the 69-year-old Scot to be awarded a peerage.

Stringer and Lloyd argue that football should be represented in the House of Lords because of its "economic, social, cultural" importance.

Ferguson led United to a record 19th league title in May.

That was the 12th Premier League crown the Red Devils had won under Ferguson, who has also captured the Champions League twice, the Cup Winners' Cup, the FA Cup five times and the League Cup on four occasions.

He also led Aberdeen to three Scottish League titles, four Scottish Cups, the Scottish League Cup and the Cup Winners' Cup.

A lifelong socialist, Ferguson was knighted in 1999 when Tony Blair was Prime Minister.

THE MOTION IN FULL

"That this House recognises the economic, social, cultural and sporting importance of football to the United Kingdom; is therefore surprised at the paucity of representatives from the world of football in the Upper House; further notes that Sir Alex Ferguson, as the manager of Aberdeen and Manchester United, is the most successful manager in the history of British football; and calls for him to be recommended for appointment to the House of Lords."

Arise Lord Fergie?
