Apparently Berbatov fancies himself as a centre-back as well, he might be one of those who switches to the back later in his career? I thought Carrick had an assured performance though and young Fryers too. Valencia looks like he's been playing right-back all his career as well, if Smalling doesn't recover from his knock then I'd say he's in with a shout of playing there for the Stoke game.
