I've played 33 of those and if you took out the franchise games (GTA, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy) it would be about 12.

I disagree. While The Last of Us does have good graphics and a decent story from what I played, the gameplay bored me so much that I haven't played it in almost a year.

I just thought it corrected all the problems with the Uncharted shooting system and balanced the stealth perfectly. I can see why people wouldn't like it though.

I've played/owned 56 of that list. Not really fussed about placements, I defo wouldn't put LOU first and I loved it but whatever. I do agree old games get far too much love due to rose tinted glasses. I mean honestly, Tetris? Who can play that for more than ten minutes without getting bored? It was heavily influential fair enough but it's not one of the best games ever.

The greatest game of all time should be something that was revolutionary, that took gaming on whatever platform or in whatever genre to an entirely new level.

The Last of Us, whilst a very very good game, isn't anywhere close tp that kind of game.

The vast majority of those games appear to have been released after the turn of the century, which suggests that many of the voters have a particular attachment to that era of gaming. I'm sure if you held a similar poll on a site visited predominantly by people who started playing games during, say, the early 1990s, it would look significantly different, just as you would if you asked people from two different generations what children's films they're most fond of. Yes, I'm generalising, but I wouldn't be surprised if a similar list compiled in ten years' time by the young teenagers of today was topped by something like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 or Minecraft, whereas the likes of Okami, Deus Ex and Shenmue might not get a look-in.

I'd put it in my favourite game ever and I completed it over a year ago and my opinion has not waivered since.

Having said that, it is a fan vote and it's naturally going to be biased towards new games.

Yeah fan votes are going to be biased towards more recent games. You can make strong arguments for most of those in the top 10, but gaming comes in too many shapes and sizes to make one all-encompassing list. It's like when greatest movies of all time lists wind up being 95% English-language films.
