Bubba Wallace has announced that he will not be driving for Petty next year. Erik Jones to #43 maybe? Tons of young talent in the Xfinity Series waiting to get the call, but Petty could do a lot worse than Jones.

Also Jimmie Johnson officially announced that he'll be driving IndyCar next year, which is just awesome. I love watching IndyCar, but have never really gotten behind a driver, but now I'll have someone to cheer on. Very excited to see how he does next season.

Really? Who are you going to cheer for? 😛

I feel like Jones is on the market at the wrong time. He could very well go to the 43 but I’d rather see him in the 48 though I assume Hendrick is going to bring up a young driver from xfinity who isn’t ready. Brandon Jones being the most likely.

I assume Bubba will be driving the 42 next season. The 95 will also be open with Bell taking over the 20. I don’t think Bubba will go there but it’s an option for Jones.

My wife and I were actually discussing where Bubba could be going about 5 minutes before this announcement had been made because up until yesterday we had figured he'd take over for Kenseth in the 42. Then when Ross Chastain was announced as taking that over, it became where the hell does it make sense.

This was definitely not what I expected at all but good for them. Hopefully they can bring the money that brings the competition because the Cup Series is the most expensive place to field a team. The good thing about Bubba is that he brings sponsors with him so they don't need to find a lot of those, and I'm sure with Denny involved they'll have an alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing as well.

Also they apparently bought the charter from the team that Ty Dillon drives for, which means poor Tyler Reddick is probably going to be out of a job at the end of the year as Grampie makes room for his grand son in the 8 car.

The one thing that has driven me crazy about this sport since I began watching it is how it treats young drivers. It's a very sink or swim business and sometimes some good drivers get washed out before they should. Regan Smith being one. Daniel Hemrick was screwed out of the 8 car when they brought in Reddick and now I assume Reddick will be gone for the owners grandson, who is not even close to as good as Reddick.
