Liverpool have gotten better at going out and getting players signed recently. I would be more confident than say, if this was reported in Rodgers' first season. It might not happen. I will wait and see. I'm surprised Chelsea are apparently the ones biting on Pato though.

Mauro Zárate’s spell at West Ham United is set to end with a move to Fiorentina. The Argentinian, who joined the Premier League club from Vélez Sarsfield in the summer of 2014, is set to travel to Italy for a medical and then expected to join the club in the next 24 hours.

For those of you that thought the Teixiera bid would come to nothing, he's gone and torn his hamstring. Clearly striving to fit in with his new teammates.

Why, do Chelsea have a problem with hamstring injuries like Liverpool?

The Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande say they allowed their top scorer Elkeson to join rivals Shanghai SIPG in a record deal in order to bolster their Super League rival’s chances of continental success.

Guangzhou, the reigning five-times Super League champions and AFC Champions League holders, acknowledged money had also been a factor in the sale of the Brazilian striker, but said the main motivation was China’s greater good.

“For the purpose of supporting Chinese teams to compete in the AFC Champions League and for the national glory, we agreed Elkeson’s transfer to Shanghai SIPG club,” Guangzhou said in a statement.

“The [sale of] Elkeson created a record high number in Chinese transfer market, the club got back the €5.7m investment and acquired a profit,” the club said.

Shanghai, who finished two points behind Guangzhou in the Super League last year, paid around €18m for Elkeson, according to a source close to the 26-year-old Brazilian, who scored 77 times in three trophy-laden seasons.

Elkeson scored the winner as Guangzhou beat Al-Ahli of the UAE to win a second AFC Champions League in three years in November. The 2013 win in the final over FC Seoul was the first time a Chinese club had won the trophy in 23 years.

So, Sky Sports are saying Newcastle and Tottenham are close to an agreement for Andros Townsend, the transfer fee being  £10.5m.

Liverpool target Iñaki Williams has renewed his contract with Athletic Bilbao until 2021. His buy-out clause is set at £38.1m.

Manchester United are considering a move for PSG's Edinson Cavani.

Spurs have entered the race to sign Álvaro Morata. From what I've read, he's valued at £45m. Insane.

Southampton are on the trail for Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi.
