Wasn't his contract up at the end of the season for it to be that low?

Yeh his contract expires so they had to cash out while they can.

Despite his constant stating that he wanted to stay and help them get promoted, I doubt Austin would've accepted staying now. He stayed for 4 more months, scored them some goals and it's job done. They should definitely have gotten rid of him in the summer, with the money they'd have made they could easily have signed a player (or 3/4) to replace him to get them up the right end of the table.

Feel free.

Although Okore/Lescott has been our best back pairing, I think Okore is by far the better half of that equation, and Lescott makes a lot of mistakes and shows laziness. Sad, as I was genuinely happy to have him on board.

Steven Naismith is to undergo a medical at Norwich City this morning before a proposed £8.5m transfer from Everton.

Liverpool youngster Jerome Sinclair will leave Anfield when his contract expires in the summer. The Reds offered the striker a new deal but the 19-year-old wants to explore the possibility of a move to Spain.

Celtic have signed Erik Sviatchenko on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Midtjylland.

Mathieu Debuchy says he “cannot stay at Arsenal” and needs to leave this month, even if it is on loan.

Leicester City are should seal a deal for Copenhagen’s Daniel Amartey by the end of the week.

Manchester City have made their first January signing with the capture of the midfielder Anthony Cáceres from Central Coast Mariners for an undisclosed fee.

Sunderland have signed the Senegal striker Dame N’Doye on loan from Trabzonspor for the rest of the season. The 30-year-old has Premier League experience having played for Hull last season, scoring five goals in 15 appearances.

Keep reading things saying we're looking to move Remy on and bring Pato in this month. Presumably the motivation is that someone at the club feels that our striker selection isn't farcical enough.

Sinclair has been looking likely to go for a while. Not really surprising.

Oh, and his agent is Aidy Ward. So, y'know...

Simon Mignolet has brought talks over a new Liverpool contract to a swift conclusion by signing a deal that ties him to Anfield until 2021.

The Belgium international was approached over a contract extension late last year after the manager, Jurgen Klopp, declared his confidence in the 27-year-old and denied wanting a new first-choice goalkeeper at Liverpool.

Negotiations advanced smoothly and Mignolet, who had two and a half years remaining on the £60,000-a-week contract he signed when arriving from Sunderland in 2013, put pen to paper on the new five-year deal on Monday.

Chelsea are in for Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann, according to the men in the know at the Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser.

I saw that (albeit via The Mirror). It also said that we'd double his wages from £60kpw to £120kpw. LO-fucking-L.

I miss reading about rumours that are utter nonsense but at least would be nice if they did happen. Closest I've seen this window is a proposed swap deal (ah, swap deals: the most obvious of all falsehoods) with Ramires for Gundogan. Sigh.

No fucking shit he did.

'Simon, we know that you commit at least one comical error that costs us points every three games, but we'd like to offer you a new five year contract!'

'Really?'

'Yes!'
