I thought the team played well...a stupid lapse in concentration and the inability to take our chances was the problem. There are positives to take, I can't see why we can't top the group. Just a blow that we drew that as we really should have won it.

Surprised the England fans aren't getting blamed for the Russian fans for chasing them :shifty:

He's not been the same player since he left Brendan Rodgers. He lost his character and that wee bit of determination to actually do more than just run like a chicken with its head cut off.

Backed Wales to win, put winnings on England, cash out after they scored and then Russia equalise. Result! :D

Also, two English bellends stand up and start singing God Save the Queen in the middle of a bar in Ireland. They got so much abuse when Russia scored!

Yeah to be fair, England should've been home and dry by the the time Russia scored.

For once it's not a case about being over-hyped and just playing shite. Given that 3 teams will likely go through from the group, it's not the worst result and there's a lot of positives to be taken.

That Russia are their strongest opponents in the group when they still have to face Wales and one of the best players in the world?

Considering Russia outscored Wales in qualifying massively and that they weren't exactly troubled by Sweden - another team with not much else about them except for one of the best players in the world (and didn't Sweden just beat Wales, for that matter?) - arguably they are the strongest team England will face in the group.

I was going to suggest that Hoddle's commentary about summed it up. When we went 1-0 up, he said something along the lines of 'Don't need to push, just see it out.' Promoting a negative style of play, which is all too regularly the way we look to do things.

I liked it when he nitpicked over the freekick, downplaying it because it didn't precisely hit the top corner.

Russia are the weakest team in the group, especially after their injuries.

Sweden beat England the last time you two met, and just like when we played them, it was a friendly so if you're underestimating Wales because of that, then LOL.

Did you not notice how atrocious Russia were last night?

"It was a friendly". It was also less than a week before a major tournament and Wales got beat 3-0. If you're trying to say England's loss against Sweden four years ago is anything like Wales losing - and losing badly - to Sweden a week before the beginning of a major tournament then LOL.
