Do you guys sell carcasses whole or do more skinning? I like to skin usually,  keeping perfect pelts for crafting.

What's the benefit of selling whole carcasses? I don't think I've ever done it, I always just skin the animal. Seen plenty of clips of folk carrying whole dead animals around like.

I don't know honestly, maybe a better price if you can't harvest everything?

Slightly more money. If you skin and then sell, you're getting the price of the skin + the price of the meat + any horns etc. When you sell whole, you get all that and a few more dollars for the carcass.

The online section of the game is all but dead right now. you have basically two groups. Those ranked 200+ and those ranked 50-. Then there's me all alone in the middle.
Can't wait for the update next week just to add content to change up the gameplay. May be "too little, too late" for a lot of people but maybe I'll actually have some posse members.
Getting sick of lvl 20's trying to attack my missions. I will cut you down and then hunt you down after the mission until you leave... Or I get bored. Usually the latter and only after three or so kills.

So I went to the horse fence. I got off my horse and hit triangle. Arthur started choking the guy buying horses. So then he decided he wasn't interested and ran off.

Waiting for him to return...

I’ve totally done that.

Also, fun fact for anyone who’s seen GLOW season 3:

Spoiler

Clay Davies (the guy who buys the stolen horses) is played by Kevin Cahoon, who plays Bobby Barnes (the drag performer) in season 3 of GLOW.

I actually have a lot of fun playing it online, but I rarely put myself in combat situations. I mainly hunt, fish, pick herbs, and other solitary activities - while also doing the daily objectives to accumulate gold.

When the updates hit, I’ll definitely spend the 32 gold to get that special club membership so I can get rewards from both of the new systems. I’m also guessing I’ll choose to be a trader. From what I understand of the three roles, that fits my preferred play style best.

Here’s the details on the update, coming September 10th, including a trailer and two additional reward programs.

Unrelated moment from my online play: one of the free roam missions has you take out another nearby player for a bounty. Once, the very moment I entered the game I got the message “YOU HAVE BEEN MARKED FOR A BOUNTY” and some player name is after me. I immediately panic, call my horse, and get shot dead before he can get to me.

Holy shit. Collector might be what I want to do... if I 'm reading it right, it sounds like I can just exist in the world and explore around instead of doing pointless deathmatches and PVP and stuff?

All that other stuff will be going on but this should distract you from it giving you other things to do.

Does anyone know if you retain progress if you jump from to role? I definitely want to be a trader but also want to complete the other roles also.

I don’t know. I was curious myself. I’d like to focus on Trader, but I’d also like to work on Collecter if that’s possible.

The interesting thing about that trailer is it seems to indicate that these new roles entail actual missions, which I hadn’t expected. I’m all for that, but I hope it also means plenty of working on your own thing in your own time.

A LOT of details on the upcoming Specialist Roles. I’m not sure where this site gets its info, but it seems legit.

Some particularly interesting bits I noticed:

- You can progress through roles simultaneously!

- When you’re a Trader, people can raid your camp. Damn.

- That bola and improved Eagle Eye sound cool.

- The dog has an actual purpose! Which doesn’t matter to me, I just want a dog.

So far I’m enjoying the update. 35 gold for the Outlaw Pass, 15 gold each for the roles (Trader is free for PS4, just go to the post office) costly and early on the payout isn’t great but you can see you’ll do well.

Tip for Trader: set up camp in Bayou Nwa and just hunt gators. You can carry them back to camp if you get a good spot.

Collector is basically the Cigarettes cards etc with several item types. So back to searching every nook and cranny. Also loot people. I found an antique bottle on a Murfee Brood guy after defending a camp.

Yet to try Bounty hunter but my guess it may be more PVP based. But hopefully not.

Bounty Hunter isn’t PVP until you rank up quite a bit.

So far I’m just doing the Trader stuff. Which has brought about my new favorite character:

I’ve not started Collector yet (I need more gold), but that’ll be next. I’ve noticed you can actually collect the items without being a Collector. You just can’t do anything with them. So I pick it all up and hang onto ‘em.

I’ve noticed some other stuff has been updated with all this:

- New stranger missions. I ran into a “Thrill Seeker” who just wanted his picture taken on a cliff. There’s likely more.

- Wild dogs!

- There’s some new music. I noticed it when fighting enemies in an ambush.

- The looting animation is faster!

Also, these horse masks are amazing.
