The Spaniard held a meeting with head coach Dean Smith and Bees officials on Thursday in which it was collectively agreed he should not take part in the game. French defender Jeremy Mathieu has had his Barcelona contract terminated and joined Sporting Lisbon on a two-year deal. The 33-year-old centre-back leaves the Nou Camp after three seasons, in which he made 91 appearances and scored four goals, and has agreed a deal with the Portuguese club which includes a €60m release clause.

Gray would be a move for Everton that makes sense. Steve Walsh took him to Leicester after all, he fits the bill of a young player with big potential, and we need a winger especially with Bolasie out until the New Year.
