  1. I was actually surprised to see just how many used PS3 games our local Gamestop had. Multiple walls worth with some of the racks being store with the spine out to fit in more discs. Also, they must have had 30 used copies of Killzone 2.
  2. I'm very impressed with the system. It's got a lot to it and the graphics are pretty impressive. It's certainly going to make it tough to decide to buy a game for the 360 or for the PS3 now. I played a couple hours of Uncharted and that game is gorgeous. I played some Ratchet and Clank which was a series I missed out on with the PS2. Game is fun as hell with some good humor. I don't have any movies on Blu-Ray yet (Romancing the Stone will be my first purchase) so I've been watching The Office on DVD with it. I'm really surprised that it looks this good. I mean it's near HDTV quality. Buying the remote control for the player was a pretty wise choice as it's easy to use and didn't take long to set up at all. I've been looking up some games to grab in the near future and the only downside I've found is that it seems like used or older PS3 games that were also on the 360 are more expensive than their 360 counterpart. The online portion is quite nice and easy to use. Good looking and it's not hard to find anything. I haven't tried home, nor do I have any interest in it but it seems like Sony has done a good job with their version of the Marketplace.
  3. Well I decided on my Blu-Ray situation. I went to best buy and picked up a PS3. The 160GB Uncharted bundle one. I also grabbed a used copy of Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction. Looking forward to hooking this thing up. Guess now I gotta switch over to Blu-Ray for my movies.
  4. Yeah I was watching a video of the new dashboard and caught the prices and immediately went "yup, not paying that much for fake clothes". Does anyone know if the new avatar marketplace replaces the current free items for your avatar?
  5. Probably not the most popular band in the metal scene but my god the new Kittie song on their myspace brings it hard. It's a super tight heavy song with some great screaming and singing on the vocals. Morgan Lander has an amazing voice, both her screams and clean parts. For whatever reason those girls really know how to make great metal. I see a lot of bands trying to do straight up metal but no one really come close to what Kittie has done with their last album and will do with the new one. Seriously can't wait for it. If you like some more classic sounding heavy metal and don't mind the female vocals, check it out.
  6. I myself find it very hard to justify buying a WWE game because I'm pretty much done with it 3-4 months after buying it but I'm never bored with Fire Pro. I think from now on I'll still get the WWE games but play 'em then promptly trade them in when I'm done.
  7. Thanks for the answers guys. I wouldn't mind getting one of the backwards compatible PS3's to have that plus blu-ray but I just can't see myself getting any PS3 games since I already have a next gen console. I think I'll just buy a stand alone player and a used PS2.
  8. I meant more in the line how how well it compares to the high end LG players or Samsung players.
  9. If someone wouldn't mind could you let me know how well the PS3 works as a blu-ray player? I want to get a blu-ray player and I also have to buy a PS2 so I was thinking of just getting the older backwards compatible system to fix both problems. Lots of people around here are selling them on craiglist and stuff so thankfully it wouldn't be hard to get one. Thanks in advance!
  10. The director was at ComicCon and talked about this on G4, basically the feel I got from him was, "Just buy this version unless you are a huge Watchmen fan and need all that stuff". But maybe that was just me. Yeah I looked up the details on the film last night and the ultimate edition is the same film as the directors cut just with the movie within a movie tied in. I doubt I'll be picking it up but I probably will buy the movie again because I'm looking to switch off to blu-ray soon.
  11. I just got done watching the Directors Cut of Watchmen on DVD. I sort of wish I had a Blue-Ray Player so I could see some of the neat things they did for it. The extra footage adds to the movie and I'd certainly rather watch this version than the theatrical version. I enjoyed it at home watching it by myself in a quiet dark room much more than a somewhat quiet dark room full of people in it. It's a damn good movie but lots of things from the book still aren't in the movie with the director's cut. After watching it now for a second time I'd have to say it's right with Dark Knight for being my favorite super hero movie. I could never like one more than the other since they're both about different things with the super hero as the centre point. Much better than the Spider Man and X-Men crap we've been force fed for the past decade now. 9.5/10 Also I found this funny. Inside the DVD case was a coupon for 10$ off the ultimate edition coming out at the end of the year. Basically they just want you to buy the movie twice because they couldn't be bothered to give you all the extras now. Apparently the ultimate edition will be five discs including Tales From the Black Freighter and the motion comic. Hopefully it's fucking packed with behind the scenes stuff and commentaries. I really want a director commentary, just him, and then a cast commentary.
  12. The soundtrack is alright I guess. It'd be cool to customize it so Peace Sells plays after you score a goal. The music for EA's games over the years have seemed to get better. I remember when it was pretty bad and oddly placed like people who play the NBA game only like rap, those who play NHL only like weird indie rock and shitty mainstream, and people who play Madden only like Disturbed. At least now it's more diversified. Also on the subject of music at hockey games, our local team has shit selection. We used to have some cool stuff but lately it's horrible pop music that doesn't fit hockey one bit. In this months Decibel magazine they interview the guy who plays the music for the Penguins and it's all metal. He plays some pretty good stuff and I agree with him that Hockey should have some harder music being played at the games. Fits the sport without a doubt.
  13. I gotta say after playing the demo last night I'm pretty impressed. It looks really good presentation wise, the new camera angles and pre game stuff. Hopefully the commentary will match all of that to really give it a TV like quality. I'll be playing this game for a while once I get it.
  14. What does that mean? You can play as teams like the Devil Rays, Mariners, Marlins, etc. during their first season in the league.
  15. I had to look at a release calendar because I couldn't remember what was coming out this year or next year. Boiling: NHL 10 Madden 10 Ballad of Gay Tony Assassins Creed 2 Bad Company 2 (it's listed as 2009 on gamestop but who knows) Lukewarm: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Brutal Legend NBA live/2k10 (whichever is better) Splinter Cell Conviction (At least a rental)

    NCAA 10

I think I need to change my difficulty or the sliders or something. Running has gotten way to easy and now the games aren't fun to play because I can score at will. I agree with the conference customization. I still think it's neat that in dynasty mode you can accept offers to leave your conference and join another. The NCAA games have always had a pretty fun dynasty mode. I did one back probably around 2005 where I took UCF and built them up until I was offered a job with Penn State. It was pretty cool to build the team up and make it competitive though it was funny to see them still have such a tiny stadium. It'd be cool if your stadium changed if you started really winning bowl games and conference championships over the years.

Anyone else really getting into dynasty mode? I decided to take on UNLV. I like using a smaller school and building them up to take jobs at a bigger school. I had a pretty cazy game against Hawaii early in my first season. I set the NCAA record for an interception return as well as had a 46 yard run that involved at least 9 broken tackles, walking the tight rope by not going out of bounds, and juking the safety at the eight yard line to score. I wish the recruiting was easier to figure out but it seems to be alright.
  18. I'm straight up addicted to Baseball Mogul 2010. I started with a current day White Sox game but got quickly bored so I jumped into a historic game instead. I decided to do the 1959 Dodgers but change it so Roger Harris went there instead of New York. I'm currently in 2004 and over the years I've won 29 world series titles. My team right now includes guys I've either drafted or signed as a free agent: Derek Jeter, Craig Biggio, Shane Spencer (reigning two time MVP), Brandon Duckworth (multiple time Cy Young Winner), and Todd Walker. It's pretty crazy to see guys drafted over the years go to different teams and how it all worked out. I've had some pretty sick lineups with Pete Rose playing 22 years with me and winning something like 19 gold gloves during that time. I had Dave Winfield who scored something like 7 MVP awards. It's also pretty cool how you can go into some serious slumps. Even though I had some crazy talent I went like 8 straight years without making the playoffs. My current game though started in 1901 with the Baltimor Orioles. I'm in 1954 right now and some big names have started to pop up like Sandy Kofax. Guys like Babe Ruth did nothing in their career, he spent most of it injured. Lou Gerhig had a few good seasons with me after I picked him up in a trade for Paul Derringer. Derringer was a monster though, 25 seasons with almost 400 wins. It's going to be fun getting to present day with this team. My next game will probably be with the Mariners as an expansion team.
  19. I've been watching Peen & Teller's Bullshit! for the first time lately. Show is excellent and I can listen to Penn speak for days. Some really good topics are covered but not every show is something i'm interested in hearing about. Thankfully you can basically pick and choose what episodes you want to watch since it's not a scripted show. 10/10 Really makes me wish I get Showtime. I watch quite a few of there shows and have to either wait to get them on DVD or find them on the internet.
  20. Reading what I have so far about NHL 10 has totally sold me. It'll be a release day pick up for me. I haven't bought an NHL games since like 07 (which I still play sometimes) so I'm way overdue for one.
  21. I'd disagree. I personally thought that behind all the homophobic/racist/antisemitic jokes there was a serious message. It's the kind of movie that took peoples irrational prejudices and expanded on them in a rather sarcastic manner. I agree but at the same time it's a great movie to watch while you switch your brain off and just laugh at it. I meant brainless more in the fact that you don't have to be thinking about the movies message to enjoy it.
  22. Well I played the trial game and liked it so I bought the full thing. It's damn fun. I'm actually not as bad as I thought I'd be but still pretty bad. I've never really played a multiplayer Battlefield game so it's pretty cool with all the vehicles and stuff going around.

I played a few hours of it tonight and quite like it. Road to Glory is pretty fun once you get to actually play. I ended up a rookie starter as a five star recruit QB for Alabama. I wanted to go to North Carolina but they were going to make me ride the bench. I'm itching to get into Dynasty mode tomorrow. Should be pretty good.

It's got some pretty good new features like the Team Builder and Season Showdown deal. Plus a revamped solo career type mode. I haven't bought an NCAA Football game since like 05 or something so I'm grabbing this one later today. I pretty much only get get sports games every 2-3 years as most of the time it's just a roster update.
  25. Man... 2009 has been a horrible year. Gatti was found dead by his wife who is the lead suspect in his murder. Here's the story: http://www.411mania.com/boxing/news/109898...-Found-Dead.htm He was my all time favorite boxer. His fights against Micky Ward were nothing short of legendary. I watched every fight of his I could find and was never left disappointed. Sad day for boxing.
