  1. The 360 is the system of choice for me. Since getting my PS3 about a month ago I've been using it mostly for watching movies. I haven't had a game in it for a couple weeks now. Though I will be getting some non exclusive games for it but mainly it'll be used for movies and exclusives. The 360 has better online plus I know more people who have one and can play with them plus I'd rather have their exclusives like Gears of War and the GTA add ons.
  2. I Love You Man - 6/10 It had some funny moments but just meh as a comedy. When it makes it to TV and ends up as a regular on FX or something I'd probably watch it again.
  3. Today I finished the first season of How I Met Your Mother. Took me a little more than a day to get through all of it. Absolutely fantastic and I already have season two on tap to begin tomorrow. CBS really seems to have it down when it comes to sitcoms.
  4. According to an article on Kotaku, Best Buy stores are offering a free game (MLB 09, Killzone 2, or Infamous) to prevent people who recently purchased a PS3 from returning it for the new and cheaper PS3 Slim. I fall into that category and I'm thinking I should just return my system and take my refund and use part of it to buy the slim and enjoy some extra cash.

    True Blood

I'll agree it felt like it was over too soon. As soon as the credits hit I actually yelled out "bullshit" and saw there was fifteen minutes left until 10pm. I hope that the ratings are good enough that maybe next season they can get away with something like a two hour premier or two hour season finale.

"Bullshit, god has horns" - Line of the season.
  7. I read the new previews from gamespot and IGN and the game is sounding pretty good though I don't care about the create a storyline deal. I just hope the gameplay is improved because really that's all that matters in a wrestling game. I'm glad they're trying to make the CAW guys look more like the actual WWE wrestlers. Maybe they're trying to go off of UFC where a lot of the characters were made from the in game CAF mode.
  8. Uncharted is a pretty damn fun game. I need to finish it though. Honestly I haven't played any games on my system in a little while. Mostly watching movies. Also, did anyone see the developer's journals for Heavy Rain from the Gamescon event? They're up on gametrailers and I imagine other sites as well. It's pretty impressive visually and looks to be a really good story driven game. It's made by the same people who did Indigo Prophecy.
  9. The Simpsons started going downhill once they abandoned what was great about it. They started caring way too much on pop culture and forced jokes instead of what was already funny, the characters themselves and their quirks. I haven't watched a new episode in years but I've been buying the older seasons on DVD and it's sort of sad to see just how jam packed those episodes were with memorable lines and jokes. On the subject of Family Guy/American Dad (it's the same damn show to me), it's just not funny to me. I don't get what people like about Family Guy. I even watched an entire episode the other night and didn't laugh once. Not even a grin or chuckle. It's the same joke over and over and over again. The flashback gag just doesn't do it for me. I'd rather watch an awful Simpsons episode then the greatest Family Guy episode of the week.

    True Blood

They ran a promo last night on HBO about how there are only like two episodes left or something and it made me feel like this season just started. HBO really needs to pull the trigger on giving their shows more than 11-12 episodes a season. Even if they don't want to go the full 22-26 like the networks do, just go for 16 or 18.
  11. The Last House on the Left - 2009 - 6.5/10 Even though it's somewhat of a low score, I thought it was actually pretty good for a modern style horror movie. I liked it just as much as the original. Some of the deaths were pretty creative and I liked how they didn't really shy away from the blood. Pretty decent stuff. EDIT - Instead of replaying again I'll just add it to this post instead. Inglourious Basterds - 9/10 I'm not sure the people in the theater I saw it in liked it as much as me but I absolutely loved it. Some great dialog between characters and especially the scenes with Landa were especially fantastic. The opening scene had me on the edge of my seat. The theater scene towards the end was absolutely phenomenal. Yesterday there was a post on 411mania about Tarantino's top scenes and this or the opener could certainly find it's way on that list. This is the kind of movie that makes me want to write a screenplay. On the subject of How I Met Your Mother, I need to get the first season on DVD and start watching it. When it first started, my Dad and I watched it but because of how the CBS and FOX schedules conflict we had to give it up. Thankfully this year Big Bang is on after House instead of during so I can watch both in HD when they're actually on. Also, when it comes to watching shows on DVD in mass quantities, I watched the first two seasons of Dexter in pretty much one and a half days. When I get into a show on DVD, if it's a half hour show I can burn through half of the episodes in one night. Right now I'm going through season four of House so I can go right into season five when it comes out on Tuesday and I'm doing 2-3 episodes a night. I have Entourage the first season in the mail right now and I'll probably finish that the day I get it.
  12. I bought it last weekend and watched it earlier this week for the first time. It's a good movie but not in my top 10 or even top 30. It's a good story and the actors do their jobs well but it's not a masterpiece of cinema.
  13. Well I finished my first year in dynasty, kind of disappointed because I won the Super Bowl. Shouldn't have happened with a sub par team and on a difficult setting. I even simmed the final games of the year ending up 12-3. Beat the Patriots 7-3 in the Super Bowl. My Vince Young experiment crashed and burned. I had to sign Trent Green (TRENT GREEN?!) to save my season. Nate Clements was injured in the final game of the season and for some reason Ty Law was in the free agency pool so I signed him for the playoffs to be my secondary corner. He played well but retired after the season as did Green and Marvin Harrison. So I needed a QB, corner, and WR via free agency or the draft. I ended up getting Jason Campbell, Plaxico Buress, and a corner who's name slips my mind, Tate I think. My draft was alright, I think I found a sleeper in the third round because he ended up being the highest rated player I drafted and will be my starting LOLB. I played one half of my first pre-season game in season two with the starters and Plaxico is a monster.
  14. I guess Deuce McAllister doesn't want to let Frank Gore come back from injury as the starter. I just played a game against the Falcons and the dude went nuts running for 205 yards and two touchdowns. On the other side, Vince Young went like 2-10 with his passes so I basically had to run. If it weren't for an interception in the 4th quarter the game probably would have went to OT. I'm undefeated right now but I have some really tough games coming up.
  15. The Truman Show - 7/10 Apparently it's everyones favorite film. It's alright, nothing special. It gave me this weird Edward Scissorhands vibe where everything seems really fake and artificial. It was worth the ten bucks to grab it on Blu-Ray. I've got a lot to watch coming up. Best Buy had loads of Blu-Ray on sale. I got Planet Terror, Death proof, Truman Show, Fargo, Boondock Saints, and Under Siege for 10-12 bucks apiece. Some of them were actually more expensive on DVD.
  16. I'm loving my Niners franchise. Made a trade to get myself a starting quarterback. Sent Alex Smith packing to the Titans for Vince Young. He hasn't been the best QB, throwing just as many INT's as TD's but he can get in and out of the pocket nicely and run for some first downs. In the second game of the year, Frank Gore was dominating. I scored a touchdown but he was injured on the play and is out for seven weeks. Following the game I traded my backup for a draft pick and signed Deuce McAllister. Deuce didn't really impress in his first game, only 50 yards and he's much slower than Gore. However he's fun to use because he can just plow through smaller defenders and grab an extra yard or two. I'm having a super hard time scoring in the first half, all of my wins have been comeback wins. Vernon Davis is a beast in this game though.
  17. Only about an hour and a half until I get the game. Shame I have to get up super early tomorrow or else I'd be playing all night long. Looking forward to getting into franchise mode since it's been a few years since I bought a Madden. Here's to hoping I can turn the niners around.
  18. I had never seen Silva fight before except highlights and I'll admit I wanted Forrest to beat him but Silva made him look like a little kid in there. Surprising finish too but if he was already hurt it makes sense. I can see why there is so much hype around Silva now.
  19. I don't love it but I'll watch it every so often when it's on TV. It has it's moments and the scene at Medieval Times is a memorable one. I like how it has the dark comedy element to it.

    True Blood

It's possible but at the same time, he wandered in from outside and wasn't already part of the activities. My guess is that he doesn't, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up figuring out he does.
  21. Boy Interrupted - 8.5/10 A pretty good HBO documentary. It's about a mother who documented the life of her son who battled with a constant fascination with killing himself until he finally did. She basically filmed everything including the funeral and even has pictures of the way the house looked on the night he died. If you have HBO on Demand, it's on there to watch all month.
  22. How are they more chance than skill? I'd say it's the other way around. Things like complete an online game without a penalty, win a game online without getting offside, stuff like that. I guess after re-reading the list more are skill based but it seems EA always throws in some odd ones. Maybe it's just because I always have a poor experience when playing sports games online. I seem to attract cheaters or people who exploit glitches, etc.
  23. The achievements look good but the majority of them are pretty stupid in my opinion. I hate when they load a game full of online achievements that are more chance than skill. Then again, I don't play sports games online so it really doesn't matter to me.

    True Blood

Spoiler: Click here to viewAll I can say is, shits going down. Some pretty crazy events unraveling like you guys said. After seeing all that Maryanne can do It left me wishing she was played by another actor or something. She just doesn't look like pure evil to me. Jason probably isn't dead, I can't imagine they would kill off two characters in one episode in the middle of the season. And I agree, Bill should just turn that place into a slaughterhouse. Maybe he and Eric would team up briefly to do it. Also, something tells me Godric is going to kidnap Sookie or something and take her off somewhere leading to Bill having to save her.
  25. Quantum of Solace - 6/10 I didn't see Casino Royale and maybe I should have because I had no idea what was going on in this movie. It was pretty slow going and everyone was whispering. Some of the action/fight scenes were pretty good but the plot was just sort of confusing to me. Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention. I'll probably rent Casino Royale when I bring this one back. On a side note, it was my first Blu-Ray movie after buying a PS3 yesterday. It looks damn good but made me realize I need a bigger TV and one that's 1080p instead of 1080i. Still was pretty impressive though. I also rented Watchmen in Blue-Ray even though I bought it on DVD last week. Looking forward to watching it with that commentary deal.
