Can we take a minute to appreciate just how well The Gambia are doing in this competition? 

This was a team that, at the start of qualifying, we're 161st in the world. That's so low that they had to go through a preliminary round to even be allowed to join the qualifying round (they beat Djibouti on pens over 2 legs).

Then, in the proper quallies, they managed their first ever away win in a non-friendly when they beat Angola.  Despite being the bottom ranked side in their qually group, they won the group on GD, finishing above Gabon and meaning that top seed DR Congo was eliminated. 

They were expected to the whipping boys at the finals, but ended up qualifying 2nd place (on GD by 1 goal behind Mali who they drew with) and beat Tunisia along the way.

They knocked out Guinea in the first knock out round, a team ranked the best part of 100 places above them.

I'll never understand the trend of having your best players take the fifth penalty, and it feels like something Ronaldo started (I at least remember him not getting to take one because Portugal had missed three already). Salah's in that position tonight, I just don't know why you wouldn't want your best players taking first to get goals on the board.
