He doesn't need to.  He's not retiring from the Patriots.  And again, he thanked them on the way out.  Plus he only just announced his retirement, and he might do something else for the Pats fans before then.  He'll end up thanking everyone who's been involved in his career again during his Hall of Fame speech, will likely be there for a number retirement in a year or two etc.

But fans going at Tom for this just have a Bostonian victim complex.
