Sisters of Mercy?

Like, the goth rock band..?

That exact band, yes.

Also, with Download ready to announce another ~20 bands, I've created a separate thread for it. You can read it here

Hey, so, the new Amon Amarth album leaked. It is pretty crushing and much better than Twilight Of The Thunder God and it also doesn't have guest musicians from Children Of Bodom. Definetely worth checking out; best tracks are Destoyer Of The Universe, Wrath Of The Norsemen and A Beast I Am. Go for it, axe-swinging ass-raping vikings!

Also speaking of new metal releases, I've been tearing through a few these last few months. New Belphegor was brutal, black metal done right; Falkenbach's Tiurida was epic as expected, Crowbar's new release however was kind of flat, I felt, it didn't really do anything for me and I am huge Crowbar fan. Moonsorrow's latest should be checked out by everyone who pines for epic metal; it really is good and much better than their Tulimyrsky EP. The new Weedeater is interesting, both because of the album title and the direction taking with the music, Surtur Rising you already know about and currently I am sitting through 40 Watt Sun's debut album The Inside Room which is pretty damn crushing.

I've got the Amon Amarth album on pre-order. What's it like in comparison to 'With Oden on my Side'? (Always preferred that to Twilight...).

I'll possibly get the new Moonsorrow too. Speaking of epic metal, Turisas' album is freaking awesome! Seriously, it's great. :)

Surtur Rising is most definitely an improvement to Twilight Of The Thunder God. Still can't beat their old albums but it does have interesting experiments within (string arrangements, mellow guitar outro's and whatnot) plus it doesn't have any guys from Children Of Bodom which is a good thing. Haven't listened to Turisas' new release but I certainly enjoyed The Varangian Way, even though I am usually not much for power metal (c'mon, battle metal isn't a real genre).

I'd say Turisas' new one is more like The Varangian Way than Battle Metal, though I don't perceive that to be a bad thing. I'd say it is 'more epic' than TVW. It also has them branching out into 'pirate' metal at one point (Hunting Pirates). :D

Come on, "Twilight" had one guy from Bodom on one track, is that so unbearable? :D

Yeah, on the title track - which is one of the better tracks on the album.

It is very unbearable because that stupid speed metal solo was atrocious and not at all in Amon Amarth's style. Plus Children Of Bodom is a horrible band, I do not like their music at all.

Personally, I couldn't get into CoB for a while. However, they were fucking awesome at Bloodstock and swung me on them.

SRN was right, Surtur Rising is really good. It's like they took With Oden on Our Side and made it heavier. A Beast Am I is fucking awesome, as is the final track.
