Good lad. I'll be at the Birmingham and London gigs to kick off and close down the tour.

Quick note on last night's set. THEY PLAYED SCARED OF THE POLICE. Haven't heard that live since I saw them in Southampton in 06. They also started with Stuck In My Throat, which ruled. They also did a bunch of songs htey hadn't played live for years, like It's All About Control.

I like how they hardly ever knock out Scared of the Police nowadays. I remember when they played that the first time I saw them, and tho the crowd was about 100 people tops, you honestly couldn't hear Reuben throughout the song. Everyone knew every single word, and it was beautiful! I half expected you to ring me all drunk and screaming along to some songs, but you never did, you black bastard.

As for the tour, I'm definitely at the London show, as the last night will be amazing. I'm thinking of doing Nottingham too, a friend's at Uni there, and he's a fan of Reuben, which means I'd have places to stay and people to go with. If I can get people interested, Brum would be good too, but it's a bit of a mission.

Anyway Dragsy, who supported last night?

You're like Reuben's unofficial mascot.

Pffft, your bro wishes he were me. (H)

I like the rarity of SotP too. And it was the same, Jamie didn't even sing the second verse. I was surprised they opened with Stuck in my Throat though, apparently he told the crowd off at the Christmas show and said if they didn't stop requesting it, they'd never play it ever again. I was going to ring you, but then I decided to mosh instead. And I had a caning headache from dehydration. Drinking in London isn't an option with those bastard prices, and the bar looked well grebby (couldn't be arsed to trek downstairs), plus Luke couldn't drink 'cause he was driving.

I'm going to Birmingham purely because it's the opening night, and I've not been to the Academy in aaaaages, I miss it. And it's a fooking trek to London, but we still do it. Oh, and seeing them twice on this tour means I'll have seen them a nice round ten times.

Baddies are supporting, really new, just signed with Hideous Records. And shush, but they told me and Luke that they've done a split EP with Reuben and it'll be available at the April tour. They're good, kind of like an indie-pop, like an indy band covering Reuben or something.

EDIT: Forgot to post what I came in to post. Basically, Explosions In The Sky are fucking mindblowing. If you ever get the chance to see them live, DO IT. You'll regret it otherwise.

Right kids, does Ollie go and see Art Brut tonight, or does he go and see We're Not Superheroes Anymore? Now, Art Brut would normally prevail, but they're playing a couple gigs in Ol' London Town in February, which more of my friends are going to, but they're playing more local than WNSA.

Dilemaaaaaaa.

I need weird friends, like Ollie has. :shifty: I'm clasping at straws to find someone to see AWS with me tonight (after my mate decided he wasn't going anymore). The prime candidate is a guy who made his own birthday boring. But he's the only other person I can think of who will appreciate them.

I need to know people who like better music. I'm offering to fucking give the ticket away, and still I don't really know many people who would actually take it. For fucks sake. If someone offered me a free gig, no matter who it was, I'd fucking be there.

Go see Art Brut. I've seen them a few times, and it's a fantastic live show every time, really good fun.

Yeah, I'm seeing them on the 6th (I bought that ticket before I knew they were playing my sodding local. How shit.), but it's still a lot closer and works out a lot cheaper than going to sittingbourne and back on the train. Unless I stay at Ashleigh or Matt's or someting, but I would have to forewarn them, and they're both at school. Whinge.

go to drama school. simple. half the people wouldn't know their Elliot Smith's from their Elbows, and insist their favourite band are the house band from Rent's Broadway run 2004-2005, but the other half listen to the greatest stuff in the world ever. Someone was walking around with a OWEN 'Japanda' t-shirt the other day. It was beautiful.

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!

AMAZING!

The new A Wilhelm Scream guitarist is awesome (from Alucard, also a killer band), he's having so much fun. In "Me vs. Morrissey......" he started scaling random shit before busting out the solo, was well cool.

More people there than last time. Still a fair less than 200 though, but a better turnout. Also it's a totally different dynamic being in the midst, compared to hanging around like last time.

Jem didn't get there until towards the end of Failsafe's set, which was like half 8...the bitch. Which meant I basically had to drink by myself and socialise with randoms. There was this total numpty, Yorkshire farmboy, arsehole there. He so got/gets bullied at school, and if he doesn't, they should fucking start.

There were also 2 total fucking "BRO'S" there who were pissing everyone off....why the fuck are their BRO's from Sunderland? At the start they were like "I'm going to take him out, and him out". To be fair only one of them turned out to be a cunt. Whenever Nuno would hold the mic into the crowd, he'd keep grabbing it. Fair play to them though. They knew their AWS more than anyone else there. But the fact there's fucking BROS from Sunderland amazes me. They actually weren't that bad when it got started, they just twatted the farm boy (Which was needed, he was a raging knob) and were generally fine. But they were Maccums. :shifty:

Before the encore, "The King Is Dead" they did some pro-Maccum chant or something, which led to some guy behind me trying to get a "KEANO!! HE WANKS HIS DOG!!" chant going, it died. I wasn't in the mood for it. :shifty:

I was killer. They did all the songs I REALLY wanted to hear. Opening with "The Kids Can Eat A Bag Of Dicks"...my heart skipped a beat....then they went BAM! into "Jaws..." it was sex. "LET'S GET THE FUCK-FUCK-FUCK-FUCK FUCK OUT OF HERE!"

Setlist (I'm a bit, you-know, so it may not be totally accurate...possibly stuff in the wrong order/don't think I'm missing stuff though):

The Kids Can Eat A Bag Of Dicks

Jaws 3, People 0

Hike (OLD SCHOOL~!) ->

The Soft Sell (FUCK...I can't remember the order from now on. :shifty:)

We Built This City (On Debts And Booze)

Famous Friends & Fashion Drunks

William Blake Overdrive

Congratulations

Stab, Stab, Stab

I Wipe My Ass With Showbiz ->

5 To 9

Me vs. Morrissey In The Pretentiousness Contest (The Ladder Match)

Killing It

These Dead Streets

Anchor End (The last 3 are in order...I think :shifty:)

The Rip

The Horse

ENCORE: The King Is Dead

I'd have liked "Check Request Denied" from "Career Suicide", but that's the only song I felt dissapointed at not hearing.

All Idols Fall, the opening band were fucking ace. They suffered from nobody being 'interested'. Reminded me stylistically of Rise Against and Ignite. Really good. The singer can be added to the list of "underrapreciated opening band singers, I've shook hands with", alongside the bloke from Hellogoodbye. :shifty: The singer was class, leaping all over the place, jumping the barrier, getting in the face of people just standing about near the front, was quality. Really good. Yet people didn't seem to dig. I'm actually really happy I got to see the support.

Failsafe...besides the bass player looking suspiciously like my friends brother...and me phoning him to tell him...nothing much of note. They're not bad. A bit bland though. Far from bad though. Again, the crowd stood about, but people seemed to at least know them.

I'm looking for chillout acoustic stuff. Like no lyrics acoustic guitar-piano-(maybe) electro kind of stuff. Stuff like; David A. Jaycock, Peter Broderick, Epic45, Eluvium, Balmorhea, Library Tapes etc. Basically stuff that to a certain extent can be classified as 'ambient', but it's not just long drones, mostly sweet, quiet, melodies.

Anyone know of anything?

Oh yeah, get the new Balmorhea album ("River Arms"). It's IMMENSE!

Finally got my hands on "Turning Dragon" by (Chris) Clark. The snippets on his myspace sound killer, so I'm hoping for another top notch IDM/electro album from him.

"Senor & The Queen EP" by Gaslight Anthem's out tomorrow. Can't fucking wait to blast some new Gaslight tunes.

ANYMORE?

Actually Ultrabeat can get fucking close. "Pretty Green Eyes", "I Go Crazy" and that other single they did are fucking 'anthems'. But Cascada, Sunblock and Bob Sinclair...whilst they're cheesy, they're just not cheesy enough.
