6 episodes in, the two characters I wanted to win are dead :(

Spoilers for episode 7

Seeing Monkey as a zombie made me sad

:(

Now I want Tiger or Rat to win...although it doesn't look good for Tiger considering the fire + being near Ox

Minus the low quality animation at times, it's a pretty good anime. Everyone should start watching it!

I honestly didn't know whether I should post this here or in the Weinsten etc. thread, but...

Rurouni Kenshin's creator arrested on child pornography charges.

Fuck's sake.

Rurouni Kenshin is one of my favorites, neck and neck with Dragon Ball and Kodocha. I hate that the guy behind it had to be garbage.

Reading the Mirai Nikki manga. Yuno is a lot less creepy without a voice.

Last night I watched two movies back to back, blind bought as well.

First off, it was Your Name, it had arrived the day before. I had heard about this one a lot, like it was this great masterpiece, so I took the chance and purchased it. Now, I don't regret it one bit, as visually the movie is astonishing and the soundtrack is brilliant as well, but the story, though... I feel like it had potential to be so much more. I still loved it a lot, but after all the hype, I couldn't help but be just a tiny bit disappointed. I would have liked to see more of the characters as they lived their other lives, and I think that, at about 1h40m, it felt kind of short for the story it was trying to tell.

The second one was A Silent Voice. This one was actually my second viewing, as I had watched it for the first time exactly a week before. This one's case was a bit different than Your Name, as I hadn't ever heard about it, just saw that Anime Limited (my favorite UK company for physical releases) was selling it. I took a look at the synopsis and it sounded really interesting, and the blu-ray edition itself was beautiful. Damn, am I glad I bought this, I absolutely fell in love with the movie. It was funny, it was brutal, it was charming, it was painful, and at 2h10m, I almost wish it had been 3h10m. While visually impressive (Kyoto Animation at its best), it's not as good as Your Name (nor is its soundtrack), but to me, the story blew Your Name's away; I felt invested in the main characters in a way that I just couldn't with Your Name, and given that I didn't know anything at all about the story it's based of (I also ended up getting the manga after I watched it for the fist time, and I think the movie does a great job at cutting some unnecessary stuff, although it could have benefited to add some other things from the book, mainly how the male main character ends up being accepted by the female main character's family, and maybe some more stuff to make a couple of secondary characters more important in the movie - in they books they have fairly biggish roles, in the movie they're relegated to glorified cameos, but I digress), I felt real fear during certain events that happen near the end. Just a beautiful movie that, when all's said and done, I wholeheartedly recommend  to just about everybody.

Has anyone here seen these two?

I watched Your Name...I went in hyped, and I was not disappointed. The music, the visuals, the story...it was all beautiful to me. I actually cried a little bit, and I'm a relatively emotionless guy.

DId you watch it in a cinema? If so, I can only imagine the spectacle it must've been, I really wish we got anime in cinemas over here, I would definitely have gone to watch it.

.....did they just kill rabbit like it was nothing? I'm sure there will be some funny business. But from what it seems, Ox, Tiger and Rat are the final 3. I like two of those!

Watching Kakegurui. I didn't think it was possible to top Kill La Kill in "self-aware intentionally oversexualized"-ness, but this somehow does. I mean, the opening credits alone.

EDIT- I mean, it's not entirely fair to compare it to KLK because it was over the top for comedy, and this is over the top for "these characters are seriously deranged" dramatic effect, but still, damn.

I watched some DBS dub clips.

Hearing adult English speaking Goku talk about Bulma's boobs is weird.

I am forcing myself to finally watch Dragon Ball GT so that I can get around to watching DB Super (I know, GT comes after Super in one of the universes, but I feel like I have to watch in the order they were made), and oh my God I forgot how much it sucks. I think it might just be a "throw it on in the background whilst I do something else" kind of watch.

Yeah, there's a reason why Akira Toriyama didn't want to associate himself with the making of DFGT, and why they had no trouble retconning when Akira came back with new content. DFGT is fun, and at the time kid me loved the craziness of it all, but in hindsight it was just pretty awful as a whole.

Also, I just found out there are Marvel Anime's from the start of the decade. Iron Man, X-Men, Wolverine, and Blade.

The intro to Iron man looks hype as shit, as is expected for an action anime.

Does anyone know if they're actually good? Or should I avoid it?

GT doesn't follow Super. It's completely retconned by the developments in Super. Now it's just an interesting side story that could have happened. It's basically fan-fic.

It does get better once they get past the tribute to OG Dragonball stuff.

Wolverine is supposed to be alright.

I only saw a little bit of them, but I remember the X-Men one being okay, and the Iron Man one was watchable but not at all interesting. Like, the only thing I remember about the Iron Man anime was that Tony Stark was in Tokyo because all the Marvel Anime were set in Japan because anime I guess.
