The Lusophone
Well replacing Cook is certainly working out well...
Matt
To be honest I don't think Cook would have made much difference.
Ace
So after all that none of the smaller one day teams got through the group stages. You mean, besides Bangladesh?
Matt
Bangladesh advancing over England is only a shock if you've not paid attention to England in the last 4 years. We're average on our best day. At least half of that side have no right to be in that team and behind the scenes, well shambles doesn't even begin to cover it
Plubby
Also he meant associate nations, Bangladesh is a test playing country.
hugobomb
Also, Ireland can still qualify!
DFF
Yeah, Ireland totally have a shot.
Berober
Isn't it basically winner takes all between them and Pakistan?
DFF
Isn't it basically winner takes all between them and Pakistan? Yeah, unless the UAE surprise the West Indies, in which case they'd both be through before their match starts.
Chris2K
England have announced their test squad for the ridiculously scheduled tour of the West Indies between the World Cup and the new home season. Kevin Pietersen was "not selected, considered or even discussed.".

Admin Lineker Posted April 13, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted April 13, 2015 First day of the first test against the Windies today. Trotton returns, only to be bowled out for a duck after just three deliveries.
Admin Lineker Posted April 17, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted April 17, 2015 James Anderson equalled Sir Ian Botham as England's highest Test wicket-taker in history with his 383rd dismissal in his 100th match. Seamer Anderson, 32, had West Indies' Marlon Samuels caught at gully on the final day of the first Test in Antigua.
Berober
Beat it now.
Admin Lineker Posted May 13, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted May 13, 2015 So this latest KP/ECB thing is a farce. You'd have to be mad to apply for the coach job now.

ChrisSteeleAteMyHamster
A good mate of mine works at Kent County Cricket and, over numerous pints, on numerous evenings, has made me very aware that county cricket (also, leading into England national) is AAAAAALLLLL about who you know and who backs you. If you're not picked up for the county set-up by 13 or 14 then it doesn't matter how good you are because they won't take you on. We both ended up with trials down at the county ground in our youth and neither of us made it for county. He still plays league cricket, usually in the top or second top league in the county, and has played against some amazing players who have never been given the chance because their face doesn't fit, or they aren't the "golden boy" that the county has brought in. If they like you, you can make mistake after mistake. If you're not greasing the palms and one of the golden boys then you're out at the first possible misdemeanour. This carries through to England and it's pathetic. It's why we're in such a state right now and why some brilliant county players aren't selected. Some counties are generally just overlooked altogether. I don't tend to defend Pietersen's batting attitude - it's very self-centred, but the thing is, his average and career runs speak for themselves. He's not out in the cold for that. He was top scorer in that Ashes. He wasn't kicked out for his age. He's just not one of that "in crowd" - Cook, Trott, Bell, Anderson, Broad. Strauss never liked him much either and it's pathetic. At the end of the day he's a match winner. With him and Root in the middle order, that'd be brilliant. It's not like "dressing room harmony" is doing us any good.
