"Legal" talk from wanna be lawyers is so boring.

Okay Jukebox. Here's how it works. A parody is okay to use if the material is directly referencing it's source. That means, Weird Al and The Apologetix, who as you said parody Eminem, fall under fair use. You own the game, as do I, and I see nothing in here that implies anything other than copying their likeness. The concept of wrestling matches is not a WWE thing, it is a general medium. If I took Weird Al's Amish Paradise, you could tell that he was using Gangsta's Paradise's melody.

Obviously I've voiced concerns about the game crashing, so I won't be able to do this, but you will. Go into the game, and find any tangible examples where this game uses the characters to poke pun at WWE, or even TNA for that matter. If you are able to do that, then that's great! It might be classed as a parody, but otherwise, you are on the wrong fucking track here.

Yeah, I really think we're almost done here. This is getting repetative and Serious is now even more obvious in his trolling, though I didn't think that was possible. It's been a very fun way to kill an evening but... WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!

I was so close to walking away. :crying:

And yes. How else were you meant to save the bloody game, it's not hard to spot it on the main fucking menu.

Also, here's the thing. I'm not involved in video game development, but I am involved in publication--I'm on the editorial team for a collection of short stories that's set to go to print late next year. I was responsible for assisting in submission guidelines and am still responsible for answering questions about the use of things like brand names in works of writing. The laws can't be dissimilar.

So yeah, "wannabe" lawyer is only half the story. (Y)

I'm not a legal expert nor am I as smart as most of the posters here. But to me it makes absolutely no sense that you would contact someone and ask them if what you're about to do infringes on their copyright. I'd assume that 99.9% of companies would say "why yes that is too close, please send us money and we will let you use it." Instead you would normally hire your own lawyers specialising in copyright law to advise you.

Regardless though the main issue as PRP raised earlier is that WWE are likely to sue and tie you up and eat up all of your money whether they have a case or not.

Not supporting SP or anything. Just curious. As far as names and likeness issues go, what is the difference between what this game does and what Fire Pro Wrestling does?

Tonly thing I've seen that might be a potential problem is one of the venues: Madison Square Garden.

Damn, I thought it was the whole ripping off WWE and TNA guys :(
