Matt
Aussies batting first after winning toss. Hopefully we can get in by the end of the day but I fear we'll lose this test. Our batting has been relatively poor this series and Bairstow has dropped so we're playing 2 spinners (plus Root), seems a bit unnecessary. Chris2K
This does seem like a very attacking option from both sides, Woakes and Faulkner as respective number sevens means we may be in for some low second innings scores. It'll be interesting to see if Australia manage to bat a long time now they've won the toss, apparently the pitch looks pretty flat.

Matt
Yeah not playing Tremlett is looking like a bad idea at the minute, better player, more experience, almost certain to go down under and it's his home ground. We're making a below average Aussie side look decent, they shouldn't be getting anywhere near 350 but that looks like the kind of score they're going to get. Chris2K
Not Ashes related but something fun I just read: In the 2007 World Cup Boyd Rankin, bowling for Ireland, dismissed Ed Joyce, batting for England. In the ODI last week Boyd Rankin, bowling for England, dismissed Ed Joyce, batting for Ireland.

Baddar
The Ashes? Again? Wut Yup, 2 this year because of a World Cup next year...or something.
Plubby
Partially, The Ashes was meant to be last year, but of course that clashed with the Olympics. So it was pushed back a year. If they were to maintain the 18 month gap between Ashes, that would put the series we're about to do into a clash with the world cup, so they instead decided to squish two together and then return to your regularly scheduled 18 month gap. Admin Lineker Posted November 12, 2013 Admin Report Share Posted November 12, 2013 Australia first test squad: Michael Clarke (captain), Brad Haddin (vice-captain, wk), George Bailey, James Faulkner, Ryan Harris, Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Lyon, Chris Rogers, Peter Siddle, Steven Smith, David Warner, Shane Watson. Hornswoggle4PM
Very happy for George Bailey, he's deserved a spot in the test team for quite a while now. Otherwise, still pretty much the same team that's lost before, a little disappointed but not surprised that a few such as Warner and Haddin retain their spots. Warner's been in good form at least though, so it's fair enough to give him another chance.
