Adam
If UEFA actually pull out of the World Cup, he surely wouldn't survive that. Saying that 8 of the 10 teams capable of challenging for the World Cup are not going to be there would be a complete catastrophe in sporting terms, and is one of the only things that would surely do enough to actually make them go "oh, we might need to fix this". Or, you know, Brazil and Argentina laugh gleefully as they are faced with the challenge of seeing off Australia and Ghana to win the whole thing.
Matt
I'm curious as to who the 8 are. Germany, Spain, France, Netherlands... Belgium? Italy? Portugal?
lanky316
Fully expect UEFA to boycott the next WC tbh. We should, but we won't. Platini is almost as bent as Blatter. Isn't everyone when it comes to things like this? Hard to think of a governing body like this that aren't bent.
Dan
UEFA leaving FIFA would destroy the World Cup. UEFA has provided 5 of the last 7 winners of World Cups. Aside from Brazil and Argentina a non-UEFA country hasn't won the World Cup since 1950.

EddieG
Concerning those votes from South America/North America, shouldn't we discount the ones who've been jailed/ran back to Brazil?

Matt
Actually it sounds as though most of CONMEBOL or whatever it's called are voting for Ali. Well, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay are whilst Brazil are abstaining.
Dan
Venezuela are abstaining too. Doubt it'll make much difference though if Asia and Africa vote Blatter as expected.
gunnar hendershow
Blatter basically said "If we hadn't given the World Cup to Russia and Qatar people wouldn't be mad." This investigation started 24 years ago, they must have known in advance. People are less mad about Russia and Qatar (though they should be furious and protesting in the streets about a slave state building the World Cup with slave labor) than they are about the rampant corruption in the organization. I would like it, from a basic human rights standpoint, if Qatar was stripped of the World Cup. Russia's got a lot of problems either but to my knowledge they aren't having migrant workers die to build a playground for the rich.

Matt
Venezuela are abstaining too. Doubt it'll make much difference though if Asia and Africa vote Blatter as expected. Yeah Africa and Asia hold 100 votes, assuming he wins most of those (Australia and presumably Jordan will vote against, but you'd expect Blatter to get 90 of the votes at least), he only needs a few Caribbean countries and he's in. Dan
I have literally no idea what the fuck he is talking about. He sounds deadly serious but then he comically pulled a red card out of his pocket.
Gazz
Christ, no wonder nothing ever gets done. It's taken more than 15 minutes for Palestine to say 'We withdraw the motion' and now Israel has to make a speech saying 'Thanks'. Then they vote on a motion that has been withdrawn.
