Summer Transfer Window Thread 2016

Joao Mario has joined Inter Milan from Sporting Lisbon for £38.4m (45m euros), becoming the most expensive Portuguese player ever sold by a Portuguese club.

The 23-year-old's move beats Sporting's sales of Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.24m) and Nani (£25m) to Manchester United.

It is also the second-biggest move out of Portugal, marginally behind the fee Monaco paid Porto for Colombian James Rodriguez in 2013.

Inter remain in talks over signing Brazilian Gabriel Barbosa from Santos.

Midfielder Mario made 171 appearances for Sporting and won Euro 2016 with Portugal.

This is of course ignoring the Renato Sanches deal which could be worth up to €80m.

Either way, Inter don't seem to be afraid to splash the cash lately.

Leicester are in advanced negotiations with Sporting Lisbon over a possible club-record transfer of striker Islam Slimani, according to Sky sources. At this moment, Leicester and Sporting are some distance apart in terms of transfer fee - Sporting are demanding a payment of around £34m, but this is more than Leicester are willing to pay. Meanwhile, Gokhan Inler looks set to leave the King Power Stadium. Leicester have had approaches from both Lyon and Besiktas for the Swiss midfielder, who hasn't played in the Premier League since last December. Claudio Ranieri has told Inler he can leave the club if the right offer comes in.

Asamoah Gyan has flown into the south-east of England on Sunday to evaluate a number of offers from English clubs. The 30-year-old Ghana striker is the subject of interest from Sunderland, Fulham and several other Championship sides over a season-long loan from Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG. Gyan, who spent two years at Sunderland until a move to UAE club Al Ain in 2012, says he is back to prove himself in England and will not necessarily choose the Premier League over the Championship.

Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall will have medical at Hull tomorrow, according to Sky sources. The Scotland international remains in talks with the Tigers after Cardiff confirmed a £3.5m fee for the player had been agreed.

Marshall is definitely good enough to have another crack at the Premier League, not sure keeper was the prime position Hull need to strengthen but then again McGregor is out long term.

Young Nottingham Forest starlet Oliver Burke has been targeted by a number of Premier League clubs, but he has instead opted to sign for Red Bull Leipzig in the Bundesliga. Bit of a strange one if you ask me.

Good for him. Not enough British players decide to have a crack at going abroad.

Is that Chambers to Leicester?
