I remember right after the 2006 season (and A-Rod shitting the bed and batting 8th in the playoffs) my sports marketing teacher who was a Yankee fan read an article to all of us that suggested the Yankees trade Jeter instead of A-Rod as was rumored at the time.

Suffice to say, the entire classroom laughed their asses off.

Sure enough a quick search dug the article up and it it was a garbage ESPN article.

As of yesterday there have now been more American League games played with the DH than games played w/o the DH.

Wow, that doesn't seem possible does it? But I guess when you consider more games and more teams, that does make sense. A weird stat to hear/read though.

72 seasons of AL play w/o DH and now we're in the 45th season (with work stoppages) of the DH. When you consider 8 extra games a season and also more teams the math does make sense. But it's still a crazy stat to read since in the history of baseball DH feels like one of the newest innovations.

I won't tell you who to root for and who not to root for. I clearly am not going to be buying his jersey or anything but if he acknowledges why making a homophobic slur is wrong, serves a suspension or pays his fine, it will be fine in my books.

The Jose Bautista situation just shows that pitchers are fragile babies.  Oh no - my shitty pitcher allowed a moonshot and Baustista flipped a bat!  We must drill him!

I think the whole thing has been handled really well. He apologised after the game, then apologised the next day, specifically acknowledging the LGBTQ+ community. Then then the team suspended him for 2 games. Escobar got 3 when he put on eye black with homophobic slurs, so I think 2 is fair when it wasn't premeditated. 

So yeah, kudos all around to everyone involved for resolving what could have been a situation that really would have put me off supporting Pillar or the Jays.
