  2. Yes, because money equates happiness. I, for one, think Leo is an underrated actor and that he probably deserves a lot better than he receives from the movie community.
  3. So true. I saw Sum 41 in a small venue, I hate them, but it was a good fucking time for the simple fact that it was just them and a few fans... they really just seemed to play it for the love of playing.
  4. Pot calling the kettle black. Bad Religion, of all bands, are highly overrated and offer nothing spectacular to the table [besides giving us Epitaph records]. Add to the fact they are one of the most inconsistent bands out there [The Process of Belief was absolute shit, but The Empire Strikes Back was alright...] and Rise Against... well, same thing. Pretty generic, pretty bland, pretty nothing, I mean, I don't see the appeal whatsoever. And I am an avid listener to punk-rock. Green Day, at the least, has two solid releases behind them that managed to garner both pop and critical success, which was basically the point of their albums. Green Day always puts on a fantastic live show and they always manage to suck their fans in for a few more bucks, which is always good.
  5. I'll download the tape. Usher is... quite the man.

  8. I haven't heard Gwen's solo stuff, but No Doubts early stuff was pop-music with heavy ska influences. I highly doubt her new stuff in any way resemblances her older work in No Doubt.
  9. I am content with the list. You took the best of the mainstream and it won. To anyone who voted for the Killers. There first song is a total rip from Blur's "Girls and Boys" and a very bad rip-off at that. The rest of there album is bland, wanna-be retro. Give me one good reason why the Killers are better than than Beastie Boys and Green Day's releases this year. There are zero reasons; the Beastie Boys managed to break themselves down to the core and reinvent themselves as a band and Green Day had a total make-over which resulted in an interesting release with lots of potential. To anyone who voted for Maroon 5... shake your head...
  10. There never has been a punk band in the mainstream; the idea of punk could never exist in mainstream music... but here are a lot of good bands in punk off-shots who released stuff or nearby. The Liars, Death From Above 1979, !!!, Alexisonfire, Randy, The International Noise Conspiracy, the Hives, Bad Religion {The Empire Strikes Back is good}, the Horrorpops, Pansy Division, My Chemical Romance, Moneen, Division Of Laura Lee, Dillinger Escape Plan, Motion City Soundtrack, The Locust, Green Day, Jersey, Closet Monster, Bombs Over Providence, Hostage Life, Protest the Hero, Action, Career Suicide, Maximum RNR... {note: this includes dance-punk, pop-punk, screamcore, emo, hardcore, psychobilly...} As well, there has been lots of great music being created in the last couple of years. You just have to find it. Where I'd start? Deltron 3030, Broken Social Scene, The Streets, Dizzee Rascal, Mindless Self Indulegence, K-OS, Junior Senior, Hidden Cameras, Buck 65... some good bands that I personally e
  11. Greg [lead singer of Treble Charger] manages Sum 41 and really doesn't have time to make it famous. New York Dolls : glam meets punk meets cross dressing. Motion City Soundtrack : funky pop-punk. Be warned, some songs are really shitty emo. I suggest Capital H, The Future Freaks Me Out, Don't Call It A Comeback, Boombox Generation and Perfect Teeth. Otherwise, avoid. Mindless Self Indulgence : very bizarre fushion of so many different styles. Think of Marilyn Manson vocals meets loud, booming techno. Song recommendations : Royally Fucked, Faggot, Bite Your Rhymes, Bring The Pain... you like one song, you like them all. !!! : dance punk, I am personally not a fan, but they are interesting and worth the listen.

  14. A huge collective with heavy roots in KC Accidental {the guy behind it all is the lead singer and guitarist from KC Accidental}, the band consists of a lot of members. I saw them in an interview along time ago and they said about fifteen members in total; with members showing up as they choose to. Live shows number vary and it is basically a group of guys getting together and playing music they love. I love there CD, You Forgot It In People, but there debut Feel Good Lost isn't my favorite. Favorite songs include Almost Crimes, Cause = Time and Anthems For A Teenager Girl. Just a weird bit a of trivia as well, the ex-guitarist of Canadian veteran pop-punk/alternative group Treble Charger plays guitar for the band. He was kicked out of Treble Charger for a more youthful guitarist.
  15. "Eminem's video for 'Just Lose It' was taken off the air today by BET. Michael Jackson requested that the station no longer play the video because he found it offensive. We are sorry that BET made this decision. " Wow... "Eminem's new album, Encore, will be released on November 16." Oh, right, gotta hype that album somehow. A little controversy goes along way... keep digging Eminem...
  16. I enjoyed Think Tank. I have never heard of Jubilee, but my best guest was what Squancho said. A single, not a full length CD. Therefore, I'd go with Think Tank.

Dude, you admitted they had elements of emo. Seriously, listen to Squancho. He actually has a good head for music, whether I disagree with his opinion [which is a lot] or not.

    Les Claypool

It isn't serious, but it doesn't have to be. The bass, guitar and drums speak for themselves, IMO.

Other way around. Emo sucks ass. The Specials kick all sorts of ass. And Dropkick Murphys were so awesome back in the day, now they are good and fine. Listen to Barroom Heroes by DKM and you'll want to go out and drink a beer, oi.
  21. I don't like the word sell-out, I hardly use it, but come on, when one of their songs is featured in a Garnier Fructis commerical... ← Apparently Rob needed to pay mortgage, so they sold the song to the commericial and gave all of the money to him. Shitty song still... Favorite Rancid songs : Roots Radical Nihilism Salvation Dope Sick Girl Bloodclot Hooligans Maxwell Murders Radio Ruby Soho Timebomb Dead Bodies Personally, what I do with Rancid is listen to all of their records outside of their shitty effort record, Indescructible. Matt Freeman is a great bassist when he wants to be, Tim and Lars make for good punk vocalists and the songs are catchy as hell. Best record by them is Rancid (2000) with all of the skulls on it. But really... if you like one Rancid song outside of Indestructible you'll like them all.

    Les Claypool

Weird, I was listening to "Harold of The Rocks" by Primus when I saw this. I'd say about anywhere is good to start with Claypool. I started at Primus personally because that is where my dad told me to go.

  25. Yeah, but than he'd be lying. I haven't seen Shaun of the Dead since I'll have to travel 45 minutes to go see it and my friends just happen to be going tommorow when I work. It'll come sometime to the artsy theatre here in small-town Canada, but not the Famous Players.
