  1. Unless Detroit could completely rob Sacremento, then this would not be a good move for the Pistons. The starting five are the nucleus, and there's no way you'd want to break that up for a player who didn't bring his A-Game into the playoffs this year. As opposed to somebody such as Rip, who turned his game up in the playoffs. If anything, I want to see Detroit sign a solid PG to come off the bench for Chauncey. I love Lindsey Hunter, he's a great defender, but can't score anymore.
  2. Pistons trade Corliss Williamson... I'm not sure what to think of this trade, I'm kind of indifferent to it. It really depends on if Coleman can stay healthy, if he does stay healthy, he should be a nice player off of the bench for us. Adios Corliss, thanks for all the contributions you made throughout the past seasons. Edit - Here is a little more information, credit to espn.com.
  3. I am probably going to buy this game before I go into work today. I played this game at my brother's house a few nights ago, and it's excellent. I've always been a big fan of the Sega Football titles, dating back to NFL 2K1 for Dreamcast. Plus, the twenty dollar price is a fucking steal. So hopefully later tonight I'll have some tales of the Detroit Lions to tell you all. Stories of glory, and championships.
  4. It's really only speculation, and it's dependent on a few things. If Joey can turn the corner this season, I can see us easily going 8-8. Last year our defense kept us in games, but the offense didn't produce. The defense was ranked low stastisticly last year, but sometimes stats don't tell the tale of the tape. With drastic improvements at al RB, WR, and the O-Line, it's easy to say this team is on the verge of something good. Minnesota has a tendency to collapse as the season wears on. This team hasn't really made any huge improvements, but who knows? It seems I say this every year about the Vikings, and they end up surprising me.

  6. Hey, I'm always up for giving my list of top bands. I'd say my top five are definitely my top five, but in no order, they all deserve the top spot. The rest are basically in order. 1. The Doors. 2. Nomeansno 3. Black Sabbath 4. Dead Kennedys 5. Minutemen 6. Link Wray 7. Jimi Hendrix 8. Alice Cooper 9. Bad Brains 10. Johnny Thunders 11. Elvis Presley 12. The Dead Boys 13. MC5 14. The Offs 15. Slayer 16. The Cramps 17. X 18. Richard Hell and the Voidoids 19. Reagan Youth 20. G.G. Allin
  7. Read the book "First Blood", it's a damn good book. You'll feel more satisfied if you read this, as opposed to seeing Rambo. I myself have not seen the movies Dead Race 3000 and Eraserhead, a pair of movies I've wanted to see for quite some time.
  8. It's this simple, if you try and emulate a video games violent tactics, then you are completely deranged. If a video game can influence a person that much then they are sick, and need help. Some people definitely should not be playing video games with this kind of content. However, that shouldn't ruin it for the rest of us mature gamers. There is no reason for me to believe that a game should be blamed for a humans violent behavior.
  9. This is also good news for Lions fans, Detroit is at Chicago Week 1. I've never been totally impressed with Urlacher. I've noticed he can be neutralized by a good blocking fullback such as Corey Schlesinger.
  10. There is alot more to politics in punk, than one "Rock Against Bush" album. Punk bands have been writing political songs since it's inception during the 1970's. I could rattle off quite a few punk bands that didn't just write their music because it was the cool thing to do. Do the names Feederz, The Offs, Dead Kennedys, Reagan Youth, The Dils, or Oi Polloi ring a bell? Probably not, but those are just a few good bands with strong beliefs. Look at a band like the Minutemen, churning out 30+ songs per album, and everyone having political themes. Whether or not I agree with alot of these bands ideals, I do believe that many of them were/are true to their word. Hell, Jello Biafra fought censorship in music with Frank Zappa and Dee Snyder, hardly because it was just "the cool thing to do".

His Y/A have never been real impressive, but he's always managed to put up pretty good numbers. I'd say this year he'll dip below the 1000 yard mark, due to sharing time with Julius Jones. This is a good pick up for the Dallas Cowboys. A question though, has anybody picked up Troy Hambrick?
  12. I just bought "Wild Gift" and "Los Angeles", both by the fantastic band, X. Both albums are fucking incredible, I highly suggest that every single EWB member pick up both of these great albums. In fact, you should all pick up two copies of each...
  13. This news came as a shocker to me, especially when you consider how young Williams is. I can sympathize with Miami fans, as I have also gone through this sort of thing (Barry Sanders anybody?). However, I think that Travis Minor is going to step into the starting spot and surprise alot of people. Minor has done very well for himself in the brief time he has played. I'll go on record right now and say that Minor will have a very good season, he will be effective.
  14. I'm surprised myself, I always thought Raging Bull was a classic that everybody had seen. One interesting thing about that movie is Joe Pesci's role in it. In the movie his role is actually a combo of Pete (Jake's best friend) and Joey, Jake's brother. Deniro also managed to whip himself into fantastic shape for the younger years of Jake's career, and then put on more weight for the later years of Jake's life. Talk about dedication.
  15. "Dope Man" by NWA, a perfect fit for this type of game. Also wouldn't mind seeing some Primus on here, something like "My Name is Mud" or "DMV", songs people would know. I'd love to see some West Coast punk in this game, but that's probably a negative. The closest West Coast punk that could be in here would probably be Suicidal Tendencies (which would be great regardless), but the majority of it might be too obscure.
  16. Like many other people, I think both are excellent actors. However, Robert Deniro is my all-time favorite actor, simply because he has been the star or co-star of so many of my favorite movies. I adore the Travis Bickle character (Taxi Driver), probably my favorite movie character of all time. One of his earlier films "Mean Streets" that Harvey Keitel also starred in is another great film. Mean Streets is a good film to see Deniro in the early stages of his acting career. Throw in other movies such as Deer Hunter (which has another great actor in Christopher Walken, and the late John Cazale who co-starred with Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon), Raging Bull (based on the life of Boxer Jake La Motta, co-starring Joe Pesci), Casino, and Goodfellas (another two with Joe Pesci and a score of other great actors). I was particulary impressed with the way Deniro portrayed Jake La Motta in Raging Bull. After reading the book Raging Bull, you had to really commend Deniro for playing Jake La Motta's character almost to perfection.

    The EWB Band 100

The Doors Black Sabbath Alice Cooper Nomeansno Dead Kennedys Bad Brains The Dead Boys Minutemen Oi Polloi Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers Now that's a list
  18. I think Bo Jackson could have been a great pick, but he is another "what if". I found it remarkable that he was able to excel at both Football and Baseball, until his hip injury. He could have possibly went down as one of the greatest dual sports stars of all time.
  19. That's very good news for the Pistons. This team is going to remain relatively intact, minus Okur of course. I like the Antonio McDyess signing alot, I'm hoping he can contribute significantly from the bench. Carlos Delfino, the Pistons other first round pick from last year is also said to be joining the team this year. He has apparently played very well in the European league and should give the Pistons a nice boost off of the bench.
  20. Anything by Link Wray, he is great. Anything by the Ventures, they are also great. Let's go to the Beach - The Gears Surfin' Bird - The Trashmen/The Ramones/The Cramps California Sun - The Rivieras/The Dictators/The Ramones
  21. My pick is Barry Sanders. It's kind of a biased opinion, but I believe he is a very good choice. He was amazing to watch, he could break out a huge run at any given time. It was also obvious that Barry could have broken Walter Payton's record, and put it out of reach. Unfortunately Barry retired prematurely, and while it dissapointed me greatly, I also respected his decision. To put it simply, he was poetry in motion. One of the most exciting atheletes of any time period.
  22. I liked some silly shit when I was younger. 1990 (Age 5) - Motley Crue, MC Hammer, Kool Moe Dee (Interesting...) 1993 (Age 8) - Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Onyx, Tag Team (I liked rap at this point, but it was more of an older brother influence) 1994 (Age 9) - Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, (This is when I discovered rock and roll) 1995 (Age 10) - The Doors, The Who, Guess Who, The Beatles, Green Day(This when I started checking out my parents cd's. Green Day was an acquired taste however) 1996 (Age 11) - Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Iron Butterfly, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Jimi Hendrix (I was getting into the current music, but also still enjoyed the classics) 1997 (Age 12) - Alice in Chains, Iron Butteryfly (Two cool bands, but music was starting to not interest me at this point) 1998 (Age 13) - Rammstein (I thought they were pretty cool, but still, music was boring me) 1999 (Age 14) - Suicidal Tendencies, White Zombie, Anthrax, Snot, Nevermore (These bands helped perk my interest in music, great shit) 2000 (Age 15) - The Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Dead Boys, The Dictators, Fear, Dead Kennedys, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers (This is when I got into punk, and didn't really look back from here. My interest in music has been high ever since this period) 2001 (Age 16) - The Adolescents, Bad Brains, Chaos UK, The Germs, Battalion of Saints, The Clash, Reagan Youth, Unsane, The Dwarves (Like I said, it's obvious I started tuning into more bands after 2000) 2002 (age 17) - Sham 69, Anti Nowhere League, Cockney Rejects, Combat 84, 4 Skins, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, D.O.A., D.I., Nomeansno, X, The Weirdos, Oi Polloi, D.R.I, The Mentors, G.G. Allin (This is the period when I began listening to alot of Oi punk. I managed to check out alot of stuff at this time) 2003 (Age 18) - The Lewd, Circle Jerks, The Screamers, The Offs, Feederz, Heart Attack, The Saints, The Cramps, Kraut, The Dils, The Sonics, The Monks, Reverend Horton Heat, The Mummies (More punk, but other good shit as well) 2004 (Age 19) - Black Randy and the Metrosquad, The Dicks, The Gears, The Plugz, M.D.C. (That's about it to date) Basically I still like almost everything I have listed with some exceptions. Basically when I first heard the Ramones, they instantly had me as a fan. From there I got into everything (and alot more) that I listed here. Lately I've also been enjoying some of the great rock and roll acts of the 1950s.
  23. The last CD I bought was D.R.I.'s "Dealing with it". That album is fantastic, plenty of one minute long assaults for your face. I would recommend this band to everybody.
  24. Sam Kinison will always be my top comedian, his content and screaming will always put me in stitches. I also like the work of Richard Pryor, George Carlin (surprised that I didn't see his name mentioned), and to a lesser extent I also like Andrew "Dice" Clay. The Diceman can be very funny, however his act grew very stale, and he didn't continue pushing out funny material.
  25. I honestly can't remember what the first set was in it's entirety, as I'm not all that familiar with the names of Primus's songs. I know the songs, but I don't know the titles of each and every one. So the first set was an assortment of things from the Brown album and Pork Soda, and the second set was Frizzle Fry in it's entirety. They continued going back into the song "To Defy the Laws of Tradition".
