  1. It sounds like his teammates don't think he has the goods to lead them. I don't think Anderson has outplayed him, but the team feels more confident with him guiding them. There's no way they could have known that before camps and the pre-season games. Statistically Leinart's been better, so it has to be something else. I don't think they would have been able to get too much for him anyway since he's now had the keys to the car handed to him twice and had them snatched away both times. I don't think the guy is much of a fighter and the NFL's history is littered with talented guys who have been forced to the bench because they got lazy or by someone who outworked them. It's a combination of his ultra-safe, checkdown-heavy style of playing so far (Leinart's YPA is good, but only because the Cardinals receiving targets are that good at creating YAC, mostly all of Leinart's thrown are around the 5 yard range or lower, and this isn't going to cut it when the games really count), his stupid comments to the media, and losing the confidence of his locker. While I agree that Leinart should be kept as, at the very least, a backup (if Anderson isn't benched due to performance, he might be due to having to stand behind that very pourous o-line), Whisenhunt has always been about installing a heavy "team first" mindset, and I guess they just figured he wasn't worth the trouble anymore. In other news, Darnell Dockett earned himself a $48 million, 4 year extension with $31 mil of that guaranteed. If I'm not mistaken, that's more than what Fitz's 4-year extension came out to 2 seasons ago. That's a pretty nice chunk of change.
  2. Anybody here catch Sengoku 14 on HDNet? I DVR'ed it and, holy shit, it was totally worth the 4+ hours just for Santiago/Misaki. Awesome fight. It's also nice to finally see some of the homegrown/Japanese talent reign supreme over the "foreign invaders", it's just so disheartening to see this happen in arenas that are half empty. If/when DREAM closes, I really hope Sengoku gets some sort of boost just by virtue of being the biggest company in the country because they really deserve it, they're going about this whole "rebuilding Japanese MMA" the right way by actually building up "homegrown" talent as opposed to bringing in big names or freak shows for one or two match deals (IE: Dream) that don't really amount to much. If you missed it, at least try to catch the last half of the card (Thompson/Okuno and out).
  3. Two protected golden boys lost, as did a third who was less protected but just as overhyped. There was a knockout that didn't count because it was after the bell. So he came back out for the second round and lost to, among other things, a blatantly illegal kick. And they pretended that Jake Shields was released from Strikeforce, even though it makes no sense to release a champion for no apparent reason. None of which made up for how horrible the fights were. I read a pretty good post on bloodyelbow about Strikeforce's problems in properly hyping their fights as more than just one-man showcases, and it's come back to bite them on the ass tonight. The gist of it is that had they hyped their matches as an even (or at least competitive) fight, as the UFC has done with everything from Jones/Matyushenko to Silva/Sonnen, the winners would at least be able to carry some of the momentum of the unfortunate losers as they would be more than just no-names who defeated small-time "name" fighters from a lesser promotion in the eyes of the casual fans. And, that's true. Guys like Griggs & Cavalcante have easy-enough stories to market (firefighter-turned-fighter and ex-"next big thing" on a redemption tour) that there's no reason they were basically treated as nothing more than "Lashley's Can" and "King Mo's Can" in just about every promotional clip.
  4. Geez, the whole gameflow system sucks ass.
  5. Pretty sure I like Ruffalo as Banner way more than I liked Norton, and I'm a pretty damn big Norton fan.
  6. Who said I needed it to be explained? I just thought it was hilarious that the breaks in ball-busting action were of a slow-mo van that took all of 30 minutes to fall into the water "in real time" (or, well, the 1st level's perception of time).
  7. I saw this movie on shrooms. I should not have. Awesome movie, though. My favorite of the year so far, though I had absolutely no expectations whatsoever coming into it.. it seems like most of people's problems here is that they simply had their expectations set too high by friends/media/whatever, or were expecting a different type of movie. I paid very little attention to any of the hype or news surrounding this movie because, quite frankly, Nolan + big ass budget + original(ish) concept = I'm sold.
  8. Fuck this list, Miss March is awesome.
  9. All throughout the first round, Finney was still at least attempting to defend herself. I thought it was kind of refreshing for a referee to objectively allow the match to continue until the fighter stopped defending himself/herself, instead of pre-emptively ending it. Although the beating Finney took was fucking barbaric. I couldn't believe Winslow allowed that fight to make it to the 2nd round. Since when is turtling up considered intelligently defending oneself? I agree that Winslow should be reprimanded for endangering Finney. The only instance I can remember where Finney simply covered up and didn't try to swing back or counter the assault in any way was when Cyborg was pounding on the back of her head, and it could (and should) have been ended right then and there if not for the illegal strikes. Outside of that, though, even though her attempts were ridiculously futile, she was at least trying to fight back. It was brutal, but I didn't have a problem personally with the ref keeping it going since she was still fighting back. Finney's got some fuckin' cojones on her, too.

  11. This may be a stupid question, but whatever. If/when the Big 12 is pillaged (or any other conference, for that matter), do the changes (with regards to opponents) take place for this upcoming season, or will the changes not actually affect the games that are played until 2011? The reason I'm asking is because most of the TV contracts which are currently in place don't expire until the 2011 season, IIRC.
  12. I've also heard that Goodell is adamant about not having the SB take place in Miami until there are some massive renovations done to that stadium. Boooo, bring it back to AZ.
  13. I wouldnt mind me some of that Kong. ...what?

  14. Oh god, yes! I just saw it, and my first thought was "when the hell did Romero start making SyFy movies?" What an awful, awful movie.
  15. The only part of Breaking Bad I'm finding interesting at the moment are those creepy Mexican twins. They didn't say any words at all in the first two episodes and came off as huge badasses. Are they still as awesome later on in the season? I agree, but keep on watching until at least One Minute. It's worth it, in my opinion. And yes, the cousins are pretty badass.
  16. Mods! So I've heard. But, there are none for the 360 version as far as I know. =\ Fuck that noise. I never post here, anyways. Less than 2,000 posts in like.. 6 years? Does anybody have less posts that's been here that long?
  17. Yeah, what the fuck is with all of this Fallout 3 hate? F3's fucking awesome. Is it just fanbois hating it because it's different, or something equally stupid?
  18. I liked it the first time I saw it, but was bored to death by it recently after re-watching it on Cinemax. The opening scene (well, Bale's opening scene) is fucking epic, though.
  19. Agreed, that "Hardcore" mode sounds amazing, and probably the only thing I will play when the game's launched. Bethesda should release a new "Hardcore Mode" for Fallout 3, as well. I'll gladly take that over another expansion pack (though the expansions have, so far, been awesome).
  20. Well, with IW basically no more, this'll probably be the last COD game for a couple of years. Unless Activision feels the need to rush through a COD: MW3 despite virtually all of IW's top brass no longer with the company. Which would be a huge, huge mistake, and a great way to ensure they kill the gold-egg laying goose. That being said, I'm actually looking forward to this. There aren't many Vietnam War games out there, and there's even less quality Vietnam War games out there. If they can pull this off correctly and make the in-game story as much of a clusterfuck as the real war (but in a good way >_>), then I'm down. Lets spend 3 days trekking through hellish jungle to find an orphanage.. where the babies all are rigged with grenades and OMGWTFSABOTAGE RUN!!! Yeah, I'm down. Will there be a nuke in this one, too? Or at least a bad ass game of Russian Roulette-gone-wrong from the POV of the dude that kills himself. Fuck yeah. EDIT - Holy shit, I just thought of something. Jungle Zombies. NO ONE has done that. Treyarch, fucking do it.
  21. Hasn't this been in the works for a while now? I may be making shit up, but I do recall reading/hearing about this at least a year ago. Oh shit, where the hell did AAA get these production values from, and why don't they make their promos look this good?
  22. Oh shit, that's awesome. I'm not into wrestling at all nowadays, but I will get this. I will get this and play it every day.
  23. I've already explained my <3 for that movie in another thread, but the gist of it: it's stupid, mindless fun that entertained me for the hour and half (or however long it was), primarily because it was so cheesy, corny and intentionally stupid, and my expectations heading into the movie were practically non-existent. In a weak year for movies, that's more than what I can say for a lot of other of the films I watched. Unlike some of the other summer trite from last year (Transformers 2, Terminator: Salvation, The Mummy: Jet Li), it didn't try to be anything more than what it was, and it didn't feel unnecessarily bloated. Plus, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is awesome. Awesome. But, Star Trek is fucking boring. I've never been into the series whatsoever, however, so maybe it just wasn't the movie for me? (though I've never been into the GI Joe "series", either.)
  24. Give me a Fallout TV show, god damnit.
  25. lmao, how is Star Trek up that high? That movie sucked.
