Scotland scored twice in the last three minutes (plus stoppage time) to come from behind and beat Norway 2-1. Great result for them.

Three wins out of three is excellent for Scotland. Even if they don't finish in the top two, they'll have a guaranteed playoff spot, so it's looking good.

For Norway, on the other hand, one point in three games is disastrous.

Scotland should absolutely be targeting top 2 now. In fact, anything less than that would be a bit of a disappointment. They've beaten Spain and Norway in back to back qualifiers.

We’re aiming to win the whole tournament now.

Imagine not playing Trent given his passing ability can add another dimension to the team.

Gonna be funny when he gets dropped for a game against a half-decent side

Nice comfortable win. Great to see the players keep the pressure up on North Macedonia's back line and not just shutting up shop at 3/4 nil.

Southgate said Coady isn’t included because “he’s playing in the Championship” - although he is injured at the moment.

Henderson is arguably playing in a weaker league but is included…

Happy to see Nketiah finally get some international recognition though.

Phillips still being called up despite not really playing for an entire year is amusing.

Kalvin Phillips and Harry Maguire being called up basically sums it up. Neither played a minute this season yet somehow get in the team.

Feels harsh on Sterling not being called up imo. He's had a good start to the season so far

I think Sterling is unlucky as there is a lot of competition for the attacking spots in the squad.

Southgate has proved that cohesive selections and consistency in his squad works. You can't just always pick players on form, it's disjointed and as if the national team is a reward/prize when it isn't, it's an ongoing team that only get to work together so often.

That is why Maguire and Phillips are in the squad. Maguire always performs for England - he had an excellent World Cup - and Phillips was England Player of the Year before the injuries cost him a lot of last season.

You can work new players in, and form is absolutely a factor in selection (like Sancho being gone from the fold now, Nketiah being called up) but a lot of people take it as the main reason for squad selection and it just shouldn't be. I think Southgate does well with it.
