No point in stadium guides, the only people with any tickets are bots...

I got tickets in the resale! 8 of us attempted it, only success was me getting 4 tickets for Austria v France at a far higher price point than I wanted, but still happy-ish!

Uefa has told teams at Euro 2024 that only captains will be allowed to approach referees to speak about decisions taken during games and other players doing so risk being booked.

The move by European football's governing body is to try to stop groups of players "mobbing" referees in scenes which are "bad for the image of football".

"In a bid to improve the status quo we at Uefa want referees to explain more of their decisions to all teams competing at the upcoming Uefa Euro 2024 tournament," said Roberto Rosetti, Uefa's managing director of refereeing.

"How will we do this? The idea is simple: we ask that all teams ensure their captain is the only player who speaks to the referee.

"We ask the captains to ensure their team-mates do not encroach upon and surround the referee, allowing direct conversations to take place in order that the decision be relayed in a timely and respectful manner."

Uefa's initiative follows football's lawmakers, the International Football Association Board (Ifab), announcing trials earlier this year which included only a team's captain being able to approach a referee in certain situations.

Euro 2024 takes place in Germany, who will get the competition started with a game against Scotland on Friday, 14 June.

"Any team-mate ignoring his captain’s role and/or who approaches the referee showing any sign of disrespect or dissent will be shown a yellow card," added Rosetti.

"Evidently, if the captain is a goalkeeper, there will need to be an outfield player nominated who can fulfil this role should an incident occur at the opposite end of the pitch."

Not really bothered but I think Elliott and Solanke not making the provisional squad is a bit mad. I'd take Elliott over Jones given his injuries this season.

I understand Toney cause he can best replicate Kane's style compared to Solanke but Dominic has had a terrific season.

Fully agree both Solanke and Elliott have been snubbed. Solanke has been phenomenal this season while Toney has been pretty shit since coming back from his ban. Jones before his injury definitely deserved a place, but he's just been awful almost every match since coming back.

Reckon Trafford, Gomez, Quansah, Jones, Wharton, Toney, and Eze are the ones who get cut. Even though Wharton is absolutely a much better footballer than Mainoo for me, but doesn't have the ridiculous "Man United academy" tag to him.

I don't understand football positions any more.

Based on the squad numbers per position and dividing it equally to get to 10 outfield players, it's the standard 4-2-4 formation that every team plays.  :shifty:

I for one will always remember where I was on the day that Gareth Southgate finally didn't pick Jordan Henderson.

Solanke should be there over Toney, and it's mad he's not considering the seasons the two have had.

Trafford, Quansah, Toney, Mainoo, Maddison, Grealish and Gordon are the ones I'd cut tbh.

If you cut Gordon how can he be our starting left winger?

I can't agree. I know it's not to the same extent but we killed Paul Scholes shoehorning him out left, Foden needs to be in the middle for me and Bellingham is outstanding in the middle of the park. I'm not saying you do that to accommodate Gordon (I'm obviously biased), but Rice/Bellingham/Foden could genuinely be the best 3 man midfield in the world and I'm not breaking that up for Kobbie Mainoo. With the amount of graft and attacking threat you then get from Saka and Gordon when Kane comes deep and you're looking at a team that basically runs the top end of the field. That was the Lineker (not that one) podcast front 6 too.

The problem with Rice/Bellingham/Foden is that Rice can't work as a single pivot. Any time he's had to do it at Arsenal he's not played anywhere near as well and Arsenal haven't functioned as well. Bellingham is the best number 10 in the world at the moment and making him play at 8 would deprive England of that. I wouldn't play Mainoo in the double pivot (I wouldn't take Mainoo at all over Wharton) but Bellingham at 8 won't work as well as Foden on the left will.

Genuinely don't think playing Bellingham as the other pivot will nullify him that much, there's enough cover there from the wings plus enough attacking threat elsewhere (that front 4 is tremendous) to counter him not being as much a focal point as he is at Madrid. Obviously there's advantages and disadvantages to both (not least that Foden has played on the right far more than the left recently, especially for England), but if any of them are going "out of position" Bellingham shuffling back keeps the shape better for me.
