What Did You Watch Today?

Red State

Didn't really know what to expect, don't really know what to make of it. The novelty of it I suppose is Kevin Smith making a horror film, but it doesn't look or feel like a Kevin Smith movie and is really only half a horror film. The closest thing I could compare it to is The Devil's Rejects, but even that's a stretch. It's an interesting movie with a phenomenal cast, I liked it, but it is bizarre. And not in a "what the fuck did I just watch" way, more of a "well, that was something" kind of way.

Just watched Mooz-lum on Netflix. It was an alright film. I was expecting it to focus more on the kid dealing with life post 9/11 based on the plot synopsis I read, but it was a majority of focusing on the kids background leading to him going to college, with maybe 10 or so minutes focused on him dealing with life after the 9/11 attacks. Still not sure if it was good or bad that they focused so little on it, as if too much time was spent on it it could have been drawn out and not been very good, but I think they could have focused more on that aspect.

As a movie about a Muslim boy growing up with his background and having a change of heart about his religion and whatnot, it wasnt too bad. Was expecting something different, though.

Interview with the Vampire

I can't believe it's taken me 17 years to watch this movie.

Is that a 'hey, this was really good!' or...? I quite enjoyed it, but I think a lot of people would probably be sick of vampires like that now, especially lately. True Blood kind of beat the 19th century Vampire into the ground for me recently.

They Came Back (Las Revenants)

Watched this on Netflix, had a brilliant premise and a good set up in the first 10 minutes, then 90s minutes of absolutely nothing.

Exorcismus

Typical exorcism movie with a laughably bad demon voice. The one cool thing about this movie though is all the "scares" (which aren't scary) happen in daylight.

The Hazing

When you watch this movie and realize that somehow, it got produced, you know that you too could make a movie. Looks like late 90s porn and acted half as well, but it was a pretty funny ultra low-budget "horror" film.

Boy Meets World Season 1

So, Jess tells me I might like this show. I doubt it, but Boob Power forces me to watch one episode with her. I proceed to fall in love. This show is simply amazing, from the dynamic within the Matthews Family, to the very slight early signs of a Cory/Tatoonga relationship. Gotta say though, Feeny and Morgan are probably my favourite parts of the show so far.

The Last Circus

A must-see film for October. Hell, it should be a must-see film any time. While not exactly a horror movie, it's definitely insane and I feel like it fits the mood of the month. It's beautifully shot and the story jam-packed with intrigue. It's pure crazy.

The Oxford Murders - I enjoyed it despite it having some pretty bad reviews. It's a solid "whodunit" movie that has a more enjoyable ride to the reveal than the reveal itself (like most of them). Also, there was a nice V for Vendetta reference.

That's funny. Same director as The Last Circus.

Transformers 3 - 1 John Turturro out of 10.

It may be listed with a runtime of 2 hours and 34 minutes, but it felt more like forever. Here, let me sum it up (and all the other Bayformers movies): "Plucky humans overcome alien threat, featuring Shia LeBeouf, some hot girl and robots". More of the same from Michael Bay.

You'd think, coming from a guy who has such a hard-on for explosions and shit, Michael Bay would realize that all most Transformers fans want is robots fighting each other. But instead, we get horrible stereotype robots that serve as incredibly juvenile comic relief, Shia LeBeouf's drama, and Rosie Huntingon-Whitley's stiff acting.

The only reason I can even justify giving this film any score above 0 is because of John Turturro's wonderful over the top performance.

I agree 100% but the sad thing is I actually thought it was better than the second one.
