What Did You Watch Today?

Wait, what, Skyfall was pretty much the first Craig Bond that wasn't a complete snore!

I didn't care for Casino Royale or Solace at all. They just felt like generic spy films, Skyfall actually kind of felt like a Bond film with Bond villain.

I'm in the same boat on Anchorman 2. I liked it but it feels like I really need a second or third viewing of it to really catch a lot of the little things I missed in the theater. That was how the first one kind of worked for me too, I didn't really appreciate it until after a couple times of rewatching it.

You're both wrong. All three a great. (H)

Close, Casino Royale and Skyfall are awesome, Quantum Of Solace is a middle of the pack Bond film.

This guy knows what's up.

And ifi agree, that tends to mean you're wrong.

Seems like a fair assessment. If I have any complaint with the movie, it's that there are lots of very cool casting, cinematography, directing, etc. choices that are actually so cool they momentarily take you out of the story. It's a minor complaint, though.

O.Russell's obsession of tracking into a close up was really, really annoying. I liked American Hustle, some fantastic acting, but considering everyone involved, you can't help but feel it could have been a bit better. Like Silver Linings, I won't understand if it's up for Best Picture/Best Director etc. Would like to see some performance recognition, though.

Also, I think Amy Adams is the best actress of her generation.

Pretty easy actually: politics. Though I can't say I can take any group of people seriously that nominates Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close for Best Picture anyways so I'm not sure it should even matter.

I've long been ignoring the Oscars (and lots of other award shows) anyhow, as it comes down to a night of marketing, not a genuine night of recognizing the year's best work in the field. There's some overlap, but not enough to feel worth it.

Also, I finally saw American Hustle last night and really liked it. The track-zoom thing didn't bother me at all. It fit given the kind of movie he was trying to do.
