unfortunately these days only updates about as often as a blue moon happening alongside aurora borealis localized entirely in a kitchen.

I miss VG Cats. Apparently he has a patreon now where he draws porn of his characters?

Apparently so. A natural progression from that one Star Fox comic, tbh.

I don’t do PVP. For WoW though there is M+ now that was introduced 2 expansions ago that is very competitive. Also Raiding is very competitive.

I don’t know what the competitive scene is like for PVE in FF but I imagine it’s there in a smaller scale.

Competitive FF is Savage Raids (Heroic Raids in WoW) and the Extreme Raids (Mythic difficulty but there's only one boss). There are max level dungeons but they're probably about the difficulty of like a Mythic+4.

FF raiding always feels so weird coming from WoW though, I feel like with WoW you have way more room for mistakes, there's very few wipe everyone mechanics and for the most part, you can clear bosses with a few DPS down.

FF raids are way more punishing, they feel more like a dance routine you have to perfectly perform. There's less other players so despite being able to res mid-combat as much as you like, the debuff that makes you do less damage means that you'll have a tougher time - and to top it off a lot of the raids have multiple mechanics that can wipe the group if one person messes up.

It's arguably tougher than WoW outside of Mythic, but on the other hand you can get basically just under max levelled gear with just doing daily dungeons, there's typically only four bosses (that you can queue for seperately) per "tier", with one Extreme, and outside of getting 5 item levels higher than everyone else, there's not much to gain.

I've taken the plunge and made the switch to Final Fantasy XIV over World Of Warcraft. I stuck with WoW because of the competitive scene but the more I try to put myself into that scene, the more I realize that I just don't have time and FF is more of an "At your own pace" style game. Plus the graphics/story seem to be so much better.

@Rukaru ShidaHave you been in any dungeons in FFXIV? I'm at a point in the story where I need to do my first dungeon and I'm playing Gladiator/Tank. I'm a little intimidated. Even though the combat is slower, I feel like mechanically it's much different than WoW, and since I'm not a great tank there yet, I'm going to fail big time. Haha.

Oh, plenty of dungeons! I completed all of the base story, the first expansion, and party of the second before I burnt myself out. (I tried coming back during a free play week, was not feeling it). I spent most of my time playing a White Mage, dabbling with DPS classes (archer, machinist, red mage, and the one I preferred the most, dancer). I didn't spent too much time tanking, gave me anxiety lol. I think the highest level tank I got was 20-25?

Thankfully, if you tell the people you are in the dungeon with that "Hey, I'm a new tank, this is my first time running this dungeon" people are super helpful and patient. It's a very welcoming and friendly community I noticed.

I've actually decided to play both, mostly because I'm addicted to WoW and as toxic as it can sometimes be, it always draws me back. So I've mostly decided to focus on the story over the end game content, which is completely different to how I treat WoW.

One thing I've started doing though is mapping my buttons in the same manner that I have them for WoW because it helps the muscle memory.

I do have a couple of friends I think that will end up playing with me now which should be a bit better. Tanking in an MMO is always anxiety inducing. It pisses me off when I watch people do it on Twitch and they look calm as fuck because I'm on the edge of my seat at even the lowest difficulties.

Also I feel like if I try to play 2 MMO's based on end game then I'll definitely burn myself out. I think the FF story will always be more appealing to me though since I grew up with the series. But yeah, I've seen stories of FF players being much more helpful so I'll take the plunge this week and hope for the best in these dungeons.

One thing I do enjoy is that the visual effects in FF are much more clear. Like you can see where a frontal is aimed and it makes it much easier to dodge. The combat system is so much slower though which takes some getting used to.

Just started FF8 on Gamepass for PC... man, the characters are SO SLOW MOVING. Like. You have to have the 3x speed on. I compared it to a video from the original PSX version, and it's night and day.

Is this happening to anyone else?

I love how broken FF8 is. I just got the mission to go to TImber, and I already have 100 Curagas, which I obviously put on Squall's HP-junction. Over 3k HP before anyone else has 1k. And Selphie with 100 protects on Vitality to be a tank.

Junctions one of those systems where you have to almost put restrictions on yourself. It basically gives you an easy path to becoming super powerful super early in the game. I don't really know how it didn't come up in development, or at least some more forceful caps weren't put on it in development.

I hate the Random Triple Triad rule so much. I even followed a guide to try and get it abolished to no luck :( Hopefully it doesn't spread.

Squall was too powerful. He kept getting the kills and getting the bonus XP, so he was about 10 levels higher. I need to find a 3rd GF with Strength junction, as my 3rd party member kinda just hits like a limp noodle. (Irvine currently has all the good stuff, HP over 3k, 100 Tornados on Str, +40% Str ability, and an ability that gives him +1 on Str on level up, and 100 Deaths on status attack)
