*SPOILERS* The Dark Knight *SPOILERS*

Some more stuff I got from my friends in Chicago. I talked to them and they were clearing some things up for me. They were only willing to tell me a few things, and that was all. Nothing more on The Joker, or a trial scene.

Dent's Scarring

It will apparently be the same way he was scarred in The Long Halloween by Sal Moroni (Eric Roberts). They will use the antacid (sp?) bottle as they did in The Long Halloween.

AMH's role

All that we know is two things: Hall stated in an interview that he will be playing a good guy. The second thing is that Hall is rumored to have a good chunk of his scenes with Lucious Fox. If anything, he will be Batman's new tech guy, and Freeman probably won't be in the third. Somebody did spot some clothing with the "Edward Nygma" as a label.

The Dance scene

It is a homage to the original film, and Dawes struggles to get away. It's a really physical scene, with the Joker pulling her back in. Apparently, it's a really creepy scene in the movie.

Am I the only one who loved Dr. Freeze? But I'm unsure when he came in. Can anyone fill me in?

Depends. Animated series and to a decidedly lesser extent, comic book Freeze? No, not at all.

Movie Freeze? Yes, yes you are.

Agreed. What was hilarious was that Uma Thurman's Ivy was supposed to be sexy or something when in actuality she came off like a rejected Molly Shannon character from Saturday Night Live.

She came off to me, way more over the top than Jim Carrey's version of The Riddler. I know with Carrey, he said that's what they wanted from him, but Poison Ivy just came off horribly. Then again, There's very little I liked about the Joel Schumacher films. Especially Kilmer and Clooney as Batman.

Yeah, Jim Carrey was just trying to emulate Frank Gorshin, who had a very over-the-top way of playing Riddler himself. There's no excuse, or precedent, for Thurman's portrayal of Ivy besides the entire movie just being a campy trainwreck.

I don't know who's to blame in those cases though. We all know that Carrey and Thurman are capable of great work, I think that they were forced to kind of act down to make the film more assesible to the genral audience, I mean a lot of parents were "afraid" to let their kids see the Burton work.

Oh, I'm sure a lot of it had to do with Joel Schumacher (though personally I think with Carrey the problem is that comedy-wise, his "great work" is fine and all but shouldn't be anywhere near a Batman movie). The man wanted to make campy, "fun" Batman movies and the result was fucking atrocious, to the point where George Clooney is apparently willing to refund people who tell him that they paid to see Batman & Robin.

Yeah. Even Clooney can do dark, illustrated by From Dusk Till Dawn in particular. Seriouseffect makes a good point about parents and Burton's work, the mainstream perception of comics turned films is that they should be child friendly, when in reality the best ones aren't - Blade and Batman Begins.

Keaton was the best Bruce Wayne, no way was he the best Batman.

Really? I disagree. Keaton's Bruce Wayne fell really flat to me; he was just sort of Some Rich Guy. Christian Bale nailed Bruce Wayne, both in terms of who he was pre-Batman and also the arrogant rich kid persona he puts on post-Batman, whereas his biggest weakness was whenever he had a line as Batman and was using that "GRRR I AM SCARY NOW" voice, which was just one of the lamest things in Begns (right up there with Ken Watanabe's glorified cameo).

I liked his menacing death metal voice. It's better than him talking the same in and out of the suit... I mean, at least with that voice he sounds like he's going to rip your head off and shove it up your ass... plus, someone would make the Batman/Bruce Wayne connection too easily if he used the same voice for both.
